Re: Game of Thrones Season 7 *Spoilers*
Intriguing story, predictable though.
I enjoy GoT, but let's be real.
It's typical in its mystique with the dragons and will Dany take westeros?
Cersei is a cow that bangs her brother.
Then there's the stark kids who are all incredibly boring.
Theon who is a grunting, bug eyed git who is only mildly less irritating than his butch, but ugly sister (oh, look she's in another girl on girl scene.....tell me is that the only reason she's here?)
Some fighting.
Some boobs.
A charismatic bad guy.
Some intellect with Olena, Tyrion and Varis.
The nice guys in Sam, onion knight and Jorah.
Oh, and Jon Snow. He knows nothing, apparently.
Can't wait to see next weeks episode.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 7 *Spoilers*
Ohhhh, the Nymeria tease was good. Really felt like were we getting payoff from season 1.
Yeah, Euron wiping the floor quickly changed everything. Dany's plans are crushed and she's about to be urged to the north by Jon.
Which makes me think, is Arya going to miss Jon?! At least she's going north now.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 7 *Spoilers*
I think arya will turn back south now
I think it was quite poignant that Nymeria wanted nothing of her
I suspect it makes her realises her path lies south

Re: Game of Thrones Season 7 *Spoilers*
I took it as Arya making peace with Nymeria's departure, and that's it.
While revenge lies in the south, family is clearly still stronger for her, and she will possess Littlefinger's dagger at some point.

I think Baelish will die this season. He has clearly outlived his usefulness and is no longer capable of manipulating those around him. My guess is Sansa will kill him or play a role somehow, just to tie it all up in a neat little package.
He's just lost that intrigue for mine. I used to think he had it all figured out but now he's a shadow of himself from earlier seasons.

I doubt it actually. I think Littlefinger has a purpose still, and it's going to be big, and it's going to be a huge shock when we finally find out what it is... for better or worseCJR wrote:I think Baelish will die this season. Yeah I think littlefinger has one more HUGE move to play in the show before he's killed off
No idea what it is, but he'll leave his mark for sure
If he didn't have another move to make it's hard to see why they'd have reintroduced him as a player in this Ep

Reckon we will see Arya get in a bit of a pickle in her travels and will be saved by Nymeria's pack. Not the last we will see of her otherwise it's a pretty pointless scene.EJ wrote:I took it as Arya making peace with Nymeria's departure, and that's it.

....then again maybe it was Ed Sheeran in a dog suit so in that case every chance it was a pointless scene.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 7 *Spoilers*
After we lost Summer and Shaggydog last season I did a quick direwolf headcount thinking only Ghost was left but realised Nymeria did the bolt in season 1 after attacking Joffrey. They 'executed' Sansa's wolf (Lady) instead. So the casualty list is:
Lady - killed because Nymeria attacked Joffrey
Grey Wind - Victim of the Red Wedding
Shaggydog - Umbers got him when they captured Rickon
Summer - killed by the undead army in the cave of the 3 Eyed Raven while Bran escaped (zombie Summer to return??)

Re: Game of Thrones Season 7 *Spoilers*
For those book readers among you, GRRM provided some sort of update about Winds of Winter on his website blog yesterday. He wrote:
I am still working on it, I am still months away (how many? good question), I still have good days and bad days, and that's all I care to say. Whether WINDS or the first volume of FIRE AND BLOOD will be the first to hit the bookstores is hard to say at this juncture, but I do think you will have a Westeros book from me in 2018... and who knows, maybe two. A boy can dream...
Looks like 2018.....possibly, maybe. Bottom line is he's still nowhere near finished the story which gives me 2 major concerns.
1. He's been working on this story the best part of a decade now and still appears lost. You get the impression that he may have digressed a fair way off the original storyline hatched in the 90's. Now finds himself making it up as he goes.
2. He's pushing 70 and not the healthiest of physiques. The biological clock is ticking so I hope there's a contingency plan in place.

That's an interesting point, I was reading some stuff about the series recently, and apparently he said that in his original plan, Arya and Jon were supposed to fall in love, among other significant differences... glad THAT didn't happen!Northern Raider wrote:For those book readers among you, GRRM provided some sort of update about Winds of Winter on his website blog yesterday. I don't know which story is more absurd, the one that says the book is finished and I've been sitting on it for some nefarious reason, or the one that says I have no pages. Both 'reports' are equally false and equally moronic.
He finishes off by saying:

Haha the book!
I think he's released all the pages he's got, and he doesn't have anything else in store
I'm afraid we're just going to have to wait for him to die and for whoever he anoints to finish them (if anyone) before we see another book

Re: Game of Thrones Season 7 *Spoilers*
I think the thing many people are missing though is that he's not actually writing this book significantly slower than previous versions... the original Game of Thrones was published in 1996, over twenty years ago!
Book 4 took four years to complete and Book 5 took six years to complete, and this was all before the TV series... so far he's actually on track for Book 6, we're all just a little impatient because the show is spoiling all the major plotlines!!

Re: Game of Thrones Season 7 *Spoilers*
Kinda but no. First 3 books came out relatively quickly. Next one took 5 years. One after that 5 1/2 years. Both were delayed quite a long time too. If this one does actually come out end of next year it will be 7 1/2 years. The fact they are taking so long is what leads me to believe the plot has skewed a long way off the original course.
