Since I mentioned it previously and it doesn't get any love on here, thought it was worth mentioning Dota2 is currently having its biggest annual tournament "The International". This years Total prize pool (crowd funded, where only 25% of the money is going in to the pool if that gives you an idea on the money spent) is currently 20.4 million US, with a few days left to grow. I don't remember the exact breakdown but I think the first place team takes home around 8 million. It's pretty fascinating to watch the growth each year and see what impact that has on not only dota 2 but competitive gaming in general.

What games are people playing? I got Madden 17, it's good but can't touch fifa as far as longevity goes for me. Also playing Starcraft II again. Trying to do the HOTS campaign as I'm sure I'd get smashed online if I tried again.

I have been giving the Battlefield 1 BETA a fair thrashing. Considering it is a BETA I cannot wait for the complete game. I am sure that I will grab NBA2K17 when it comes out and that will be me for a while.

How good is bf1..

Once they iron out the bugs in the release I can see myself playing that for hours on end

I usually get the new NBA 2K games, maybe not this year though.. I think there were minimal improvements in the last game and the story mode was just the worse.

Yeah it is going to be a great game. Based on how good the BETA looks it will be epic. I find it hard to shoot the open sight guns but when the complete game comes out I am sure you will be able to upgrade them.

Madden 16 was the first Madden I've missed since Madden 01, so playing Madden 17 was a pleasant surprise. I love the Madden Moments thing where you only play the key 3rd downs, redzone opportunities etc. It really speeds the seasons up.

Yep I've spent a ridiculous amount of hours on those games. Crazy amount of depth to them. I saw your username on the GDS forum too, unless that is another Nickman.

17 was the first I'd played since 11. The game play hasn't changed much, but I don't know how they can improve it that much. Graphics and AI is really good and I'm enjoying Franchise mode which is a bit more in depth.

The gameplay has improved a bit I reckon. Well, just the small things. There's more trick plays for field goals/punts, there's semi-decent field goal/punt block. The running game seems decent, although the button mashing at contact is a bit annoying. It's also cool to have the spectacular catch thing when you're going up for a pass. Seen a couple of really cool one handers in the end zone. Even the dragging feet on the sideline has improved from my last play.

Franchise is cool. The scouting is awesome I love getting the combine stats and seeing the guys projected in the 4th round who come out with good stats at the combine and you can nab them in the later rounds. I got the 22nd ranked guy in like Round 4. It does seem a bit overpowered though. I think I got two 80 rated guys, two 79 rated guys and another couple 75-76 in the one draft I did

Im just finding it hard to stay under the salary cap right now. Anyone that's like 30 and earns a decent wage gets traded for draft picks and replaced with a rookie. A bit unrealistic but meh

I found it really hard to have any money to spend on free agency, then I had to go all out at the draft but didn't pick that well. I guess I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention to the combine stats, thinking they didn't have that big of an impact.

Just started playing GTA V online again. The have a patch that now you can start a bikie gang which is pretty cool. You buy a place and become president. You can recruit Prospects and then promote them to VP, Sgt Arms etc. Good fun.

I bought Fifa 17 the other day. It's really good as fifa is, the AI is better and more challenging. You only need to look at the menus to know that they haven't changed much else though.
