Eddie Vedder
Did anybody get tickets to his solo acoustic show in Canberra next year? I snapped one up, pretty expensive, especially with all the other concerts I'm going to, but it will be pretty special.

Re: Eddie Vedder
I got tickets to the Friday night show at the State Theatre in Sydney. Its the first time he's toured Australia solo so i'm glad i got tickets as it might take another 20 years for him to come back solo again. I'm stoked i got tickets and can't wait for the March shows. Pearl Jam are an awesome band and their live shows are incredible imo.
I'm sure Eddie will be no different!

Re: Eddie Vedder
I guess I was rly dissaponted because I had an idea in my head what the concert was going to be like, prob based on their 2 live in concert DVDs I have. But it turned out ti be very different. The concert was way over-sold, they packed far too many people in. The set list was tragic, they didnt play anywhere near enough of their hits. The only ones I can actually remember were Rockin n the free world, Dissident, even flow i think. No alive, no jeremy, black, daughter, better man. have just googled it and apparently "Due to illness, Eddie Vedder lost hist voice somewhere during the second encore, and Pearl Jam had to omit Once, Alive, Better Man, Daughter and Yellow Ledbetter, all planned for the second encore. They played an entire cover-based encore instead"
lastly, and they couldnt do anything about this, but it was like 45 degrees that night. The fact that it was so packed that you werent sure who's sweat was running down your arm, made hor a horrid evening

Re: Eddie Vedder
I agree it wasn't a great set list for the general fan (I'm not trying to be condessending), but for someone who has been to plenty of their live shows it was great, I was happy to not hear these "hits" and instead hear the more rare songs. PJ take great care in ensuring they don't play the same set list in the same city, they try to play different songs each tour. It was ridiculously hot thoughKW wrote:I guess I was rly dissaponted because I had an idea in my head what the concert was going to be like, prob based on their 2 live in concert DVDs I have. Re: Eddie Vedder
Went to their concert back in 03/04 was it?
Pretty good night, Eddie stood on stage drinking wine from the bottle and smoking a durrie the whole time.
Have to say Metallica were much better, but PJ were still very good.

Save the rare ones for small shows at intimate theatres, if youve got 50000 people packed in to the sfs and its 40 degrees, play stuff that everyones gunna love. They could learn a lot from other intenational bands in that regard IMO.Kyle 89 wrote:I agree it wasn't a great set list for the general fan (I'm not trying to be condessending), but for someone who has been to plenty of their live shows it was great, I was happy to not hear these "hits" and instead hear the more rare songs. Re: Eddie Vedder
Are there still tickets to this? Where did you get them from and when is it?
Re: Eddie Vedder
I doubt it man. It's in mid-March, Ticketek were selling them. I only saw it advertised in the Sunday Telegraph. It's at the Canberra State (or Royal?) Theatre.

There is still elevated seating. Not sure what they'd be like though.

I'm a big Pearl Jam show but I didn't go see them last time they were here, I'm not sure I will go see Eddie Vedder either cause I don't know any of his solo stuff and I'm pretty sure I don't have any friends that will wanna go with me.

Re: Eddie Vedder
Pearl Jam released their new single 'Mind your manners' from their upcoming 10th studio album 'Lightning Bolt'
It has a distinct punk sound, very much like 'Spin the Black Circle' in 1994.

Yeah, that fact he lost his voice was a real shame in that concert. PJ always put on a great live show and that was potentially a great setlist, but on the whole the Sydney shows at Acer Arena the previous tour were better.KW wrote:I guess I was rly dissaponted because I had an idea in my head what the concert was going to be like, prob based on their 2 live in concert DVDs I have. In saying that, I'm not a fan of stadium concerts in general. The sound quality usually sucks.
