Re: Movie and TV chat
Gotta love responses that occur 3 weeks late.
The US version's airing on Ten, they just changed the timeslot... think it's Friday now. Anyway, I quite like it.
In other TV news I just found out that Life has been cancelled. That was one of my favourites, disappointing it was canned, especially after the explosive season finale.
Got to see Crews kill Roman Nevikov with his thumb though.

Have you seen the British one? Most people I have known who have seen both hated the Yank one.

Re: Movie and TV chat
Series finale of the US Life on Mars tonight... I already know the ending and why he's in 1973, a combination of curiosity and the Internet ruined it for me.
I've put the Wikipedia "explanation" in white text below to avoid spoiling it for people who want to watch, highlight it if you're interested in reading it.
At the end of the series, it is revealed that Tyler's 2008 and 1973 realities were both fictitious, created by the onboard computer of a spacecraft that is carrying Tyler, Hunt, Norris, Carling, and Skelton on the first ever manned mission to the planet Mars, in 2035. The crew he worked with in 1973 were just virtual reality versions of his fellow spaceship crewmembers. His room number, "2B", is his sleeping unit; his old precinct, "Hyde 125", is his identification number; his neighbor, Windy, is the name of the computer A.I.; Frank Morgan, an FBI agent in the series, is the Mission Control flight director. To sustain the crew, their minds were routinely kept active while asleep using virtual reality "neural stimulation" programs of their own choosing, but Sam's choice of a scenario where he was a police officer circa 2008 was abruptly changed to a 1973 setting by a meteor-storm induced glitch in the computer. This conclusion is markedly different from the conclusion of the original UK series, but is still left ambiguous as the first step on Mars depicts Gene Hunt's signature shoe stepping into the sand.
I don't really know what to think of that, a lot of people are apparantly disappointed in it... but I'll just watch and make up my own mind

It's a US site, but seeing as most shows come out there first...
They've got a lot of 'features' with top 10 lists and "what's on tonight" etc., but I find them really good for TV news.

All Saints axed
TV casualty: All Saints axed after 11 years
The long-running medical drama All Saints has been axed after 11 years on air.
Seven's director of programming Tim Worner said the decision was a financial one, blaming increased production costs and tougher competition.
"All Saints is a show which Seven and viewers have loved. However, an audience shift and increased production costs are behind this tough decision," he said.
At the peak of its success it won the 2001, 2002 and 2003 TV Week Logie Awards for most popular program and was nominated for outstanding drama six years in a row.
But in the past two years its audience has declined, and speculation has dogged the series for six months that cancellation was imminent.
Seven has also expanded its drama portfolio to include two new hits, the crime drama City Homicide and the family drama Packed To The Rafters.
In its 11-year history, the show has featured some of Australia's highest profile actors, including Georgie Parker, Erik Thomson, Jolene Anderson, Wil Traval, Belinda Emmett and Josh Quong Tart.
In June, Seven announced that production for the show's 12th season in 2010 would be trimmed from the usual order of 40 episodes to only 24.
Today's decision means the show will now finish at the end of this year.
The final episode, 493, will be filmed at the end of August.
Worner paid tribute to the hard work of the cast and crew, saying they deserved "the highest admiration and respect for what they have achieved".
All Saints has made a significant contribution to the rich history of Australian drama."The series began on air on February 24, 1998, and starred Georgie Parker as nursing unit manager Terri Sullivan.
Her romance with Dr Mitch Stevens (Erik Thomson) was the major driver in its first half-dozen years.
It has since undergone two facelifts, the first in 2004 when the focus was shifted from the fictional "ward 17" to the emergency department, and then in 2009, a title change to All Saints: Medical Response Unit and another focus shift to accident and emergency scenes.
Only one member of the show's original cast still remains: Judith McGrath, who plays patient liason nurse Yvonne "Von" Ryan.

Hoppa's fight was crap , mainly because of Bobs tactics.
Young Edwards looks like he could punch out a tank, but his fight was a miss match.
i know one of the ring side judges , didnt really get to see him because of the camera was on his side all night.

The girl that won had 10-0 record with 7 knockouts. There was about 1500 people there, not a bad turn out for cold thursday night in Canberra. Everyone was pretty close to the action though and there was lots of funny comments and things flying around. Best laugh I've had in ages.
Saw Harrison and Shillington there and what appeared to be most of Canberra's organised crime community

yep, Hoppa has no style but you wouldn't want to be on the end of one of those haymakers he throws. You could hear the impact.

A tv show that I've watched over the last few weeks is the original UK series of Life On Mars. A brilliant show, with a cracker soundtrack.
For anyone who's seen the US "remake", don't be put off from watching the original, it's much better. And doesn't have the crap ending that the yanks gave it when it was axed.
I'm currently halfway through the spin-off series "Ashes To Ashes" that's running on the ABC at the moment. Didn't think it'd rank anywhere close to Life On Mars, but the Season 1 finale was better than I'd hoped.
