Re: Coronavirus
Another Delta case set to be announced for Queensland tomorrow. Hotel quarantine breach. Old mate has gotten around. No evidence of onward transmission yet. That's about 7 separate delta incursions in the last 6 weeks for SE Queensland with bugger onward transmissions.

Interesting comment from Dr Chris Moy of the AMA:

“It’s like the captain of the plane has announced that the plane is going to crash into the sea, and people are worried about which brand of life vest they are going to put on”- Dr Chris Moy (

Protect yourself: Even one shot of AZ reduces the risk of hospitalisation by 71%, with the second one reduce the risk by 92%.
NSW Premier announced that sadly a woman in her 30's has died of Covid 19 and she had no comorbidities. Given the ATAGI advice now it seems a straight forward decision to get vaccinated asap. Dr Moy is supporting the vaccinations regardless of AZ or pfizer vaccine.
A shame to see Anthony Mundine among those involved in the protests in Sydney yesterday and to see him on the News tonight at the protest without a face mask on.

I don’t think comments like this that completely disregard people’s concerns are the right way to go about this.RedRaider wrote:Interesting comment from Dr Chris Moy of the AMA:

His analogy is more appropriate if it’s known that one brand of life jacket will in rare instances spontaneously explode when you put it on, while the other doesn’t. Previously passengers were asked to put the jackets on while the plane was in some turbulence, but not expected to crash.

For example - yesterday I was on the fence about AZ, while I’m in the greater Sydney lockdown we hadn’t had an exposure site in the entire central coast for a year. So the reality of risk was no different to a few months ago when everything was going smoothly.
Today, we have my 3 closest shopping centres and my Bunnings.
I booked my doctors appointment for AZ 5 minutes ago.

Re: Coronavirus
Vague reporting from Queensland Health, essentially just dumping a list of new exposure sites on their website, has seen local media report all of the new contact sites being attributed to the guy from Ballina, despite the fact that he wasn't in the state when the contact sites started (entered Queensland on the 14th, contact sites listed from the 13th), and that he would have had to have been in Brisbane and the Gold Coast almost simultaneously at times.
Conveniently it shifts the blame back onto it being a border issue, and the fact that Queensland has had about its 5th quarantine breach in little over a month is overlooked.

This is a bit off topic, but talking about the role of social media, what are people's experiences and thoughts on Tik Tok. I've not used, but there are significant concerns. A Chinese owned company with an algorithm that determines your content, and has been accused of censorship.

16 locations in my neighbourhood now. Lots of regulars of mine but luckily I haven’t been to any in the ‘at risk’ times.

Saw on Today and heard on the radio there's concerns the Sydney lockdown will be extended to mid September

Can you see any alternative? Doesn't seem they are making much headway in reducing case numbers. All the lockdown has done is stabilise numbers, and Scotty boy is being the useless cuckold that he is when it comes to vaccines.

Re: Coronavirus
In the last couple weeks he has:
1) applauded NSW for delaying locking down;
2) declared lockdowns are the "principle tool" in fighting COVID;
3) defended his own MPs for inciting and attending anti-lockdown rallies; and
4) condemned anti-lockdown rally goers in Sydney.
An absolute fraud. No wonder the bloke got sacked from Tourism Australia.

When you look at the alternatives over that time we have had a great choice either.

As one media report put it, he strongly condemned lockdowns, and now that NSW are suggesting that vaccines are out, he is dismissing that and saying lockdowns are the only way forward, to deflect attention from the botched vaccine roll-outMickey_Raider wrote:In the last couple weeks he has:

Re: Coronavirus
I feel like Turnbull and Rudd could have been a very good, centrist PMs. Unfortunately it isn't enough to be intelligent, a good communicator and well liked by the public. You have to also be able to manage the faceless men/factional powerbrokers and be able to navigate the panoply of internal agendas.
Once the faceless men get a hold of you, you are cooked. And once you get ripped apart thus, history will only remember you as incompetent.

Re: Coronavirus
Never rated Rudd. Turnbull yes, and yes he turned out to be a massive disappointment. Any of our previous 3 PMs before Rudd I'd have wagered would have done a much better job leading us through this crisis.

Re: Coronavirus
Turnbull I had massive hopes for. Even to the point of being excited by the prospect of him being the PM. Very centered and progressive policy wise. Inteligent, self made and success outside of politics. Ended up as a monumental dud.
I initially felt OK about KRudd too. He turned out to be a narcissistic control freak, which impacted his ability to be a quality leader.

There was a doco on Netflix, can’t remember the name of it now, but it made a great point about algorithm use, and if you enter “Global Warming is” into Google, you’ll get different results based on your location. It blurs the truth, because it’s not sharing the same “Truth” to everyone, so it’s divided people.
