Re: Coronavirus
Was messaging Mama Fui last night. She said there was a huge convoy of Victorian plated horse floats making their way through Cobargo last night.
No confirmation whether they were race horses or show horses. I like to think they were filled with people in those 2 person horse costumes getting smuggled across the border

Re: Coronavirus
So 3 cases in the ACT. No increase in footy crowd this weekend I'd say.
Re: Coronavirus
200 plus cases in Victoria for 2 straight days, and spot fires of community transmission in NSW and ACT. Victorians holidaying in NSW despite both state premiers asking them not to (pre border closure). Queenslanders holidaying in northern NSW, despite the Queensland border being closed.
Plenty of people doing the wrong thing, and I've got a bad feeling about this. NSW and ACT residents need to think before they go out for the next couple of weeks. SE QLD might be joining them in the near future.

Re: Coronavirus
I've been debating going tonight or not. Given the conditions and the fact they want you in your seat for contact tracing reasons (mines in the inner bowl), plus a few cases popping up in Sydney, the fact it would take 14 days at least to see transmission outside Victoria, not to mention a general uneasiness about all this I think I'll skip tonight. Hate to do it but health and the community should be the priority.Dr Zaius wrote:200 plus cases in Victoria for 2 straight days, and spot fires of community transmission in NSW and ACT. Coronavirus
Cannon-Brookes calling for NSW lockdown and to go for elimination this time. Hard to argue against that line, disappointing we didn’t do it earlier.
It’s time politicians started nipping this stuff in the bud. Keeping on letting things run until it gets out of hand enough that everyone can see the problem is costing everyone time and money. Do it early and hard and it’s cheaper in the long run.

Re: Coronavirus
Predictions on when NSW will go back into lockdown (if at all)?
I'm going to say next Thursday, 23rd.

Re: Coronavirus
Canberrans have been told not to travel to coronavirus hotspots in Sydney. It comes as the ACT records its fourth day without reporting a new coronavirus case. Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith said no one should be travelling to the Sydney locations of Liverpool or Campbelltown: https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/ ... /?cs=14225
Re: Coronavirus
NSW 'likely' exposed to Victoria outbreak
All patrons of the Crossroads Hotel between July 3 to 10 must self-isolate and are being urged to get tested.
One of the cases linked to the hotel is a person who visited the Prestons Lodge Advantaged Care nursing home which has been placed into lockdown.
Another case worked at the Kmart store in Casula Mall on July 10. The employee and all of his coworkers are self-isolating.
Dr Chant said other venues across Sydney may have been exposed to the virus between June 27 and July 10 after visits from people linked to the outbreak.
These include The Star casino in Sydney, Picton Hotel, the Planet Fitness gym, Canterbury Leagues Club, Narellan Town Centre and Zone Bowling in Villawood.

That's Sydney gone... I'm surprised they're not clamping down faster than they did in Melbourne...

Re: Coronavirus
Community transmissions in NSW almost exclusively coming from the Crossroads Hotel cluster. It's a doozy of a cluster, but hopefully they can get around it. If they can smother it then NSW is looking good. If they can't then lock down city. I'd say two weeks rather than a week.Sterlk wrote:Predictions on when NSW will go back into lockdown (if at all)?

That said I'd prefer that they just got on with it and locked down. If they do it early they could get it under control in 2-4 weeks.

Taylor Winterstein. Her qualifications are that she spawned the offspring of a mediocre NRL player. She contributed to the death of 79 people, mostly children, in last year's Samoan measles epidemic, by spreading antivax propaganda in that country. This is an insight into the vile mind of an antivaxxer. Unwilling to do something for the good of the community despite it being only a minor inconvenience.
Re: Coronavirus
We're in a pretty delicate spot in the ACT by the looks. We reportedly have 60 people in isolation in the ACT, people who went to the Soldiers Club in Bateman's Bay. Who knows where those people have been in the meantime. The ACT Health Minister is now telling Canberrans not to travel to NSW for non essential reasons. I'm not sure why she hasn't told people from NSW not to come to the ACT for unnecessary reasons... as that is the obvious obverse. At least people from COVID hotspots in NSW... the ones Queensland has restricted.

I guess I'll be working from home again in a week or two.

These people are a blight on society.
Pete Evans the ****, sells a $15k machine claiming to cure CoronaV, then does a 180 and likens the severity of the pandemic to a kids TV show.
One of the many terrible downsides of social media.

Re: Coronavirus
Two days in a row now that new Covid19 cases have exceeded 400 in Victoria. I feel for those on the GH with relatives and close friends living there.
I hope they stay well and isolated.

Yeah on the news there was some woman refusing to wear a mask in Bunnings. If you don't want to wear a mask don't go out.

It's unfortunate that there are people who are this self centred, that they don't have any concern for their impact on others. It is an easy thing to do.

Re: Coronavirus
Doesn't VIC have a reputation for being quite progressive, compared to the other states? Refusing to wear a mask tends to be associated with people who are the opposite of progressive.
I can only expect that if a 'wear a mask' mandate was implemented in other states, you'd get more than your fair share of equivalent stories.
In fact, Bunnings Karen was recently unmasked as one Kerry Nash, someone who posts on anti-vaxxer/5G conspiracy theorist groups. If you Google her, she's in all the news, right now.

Apparently she has a medical certificate claiming she can’t wear a mask, curious as a doctor what the hell would prevent someone wearing a mask? Did she visit Cartwrights dodgy doc?

It's really not a political issue if you're looking for 100% enforcement. There will be examples of people not following rules regardless of what measuring stick you choose.
The media will latch on to that like T_R onto a gangers haiku.

Re: Coronavirus
Trump came along at the absolute wrong time in history. He has politicised mask wearing. Now we have try hard Trump groupie wannabes in Australia.
The only positive is that the general public seem fairly fed up with all of these people. They are getting called out and shouted down.

Re: Coronavirus
Trump has recently appeared to change his public stance on masks claiming masks are patriotic, hopefully that will encourage his cult to start wearing them, otherwise you could try reverse psychology.
