So the inquiry into religious freedom isn’t going to be transparent following the churches lead of keeping things under wraps.

Who gives a ****? The 'No' side campaigned on religious freedom and they were soundly defeated. I can't see parliament legislating their recommendations.
Re: The Politics Thread 2017
Inquiry filled with the religious, no transparency and a government controlled by the religious right, there was even an inquiry a year or two ago that said there was no issue with religious freedom which is being ignored, you have more faith in the government than I do.

Slipped two more places to 55th. Now behind Guam and Kazakhstan with our average internet speeds.

A fair bit of speculation Oprah may be thinking about entering the Democratic Primary. Not a bad opening speech if she is.

I’d like them to try a scientist next or if we’re just going for laughs like with Trump and Oprah try a solipsist.

Re: The Politics Thread 2017
If the Democrats make the same mistake as they did in 2016 again in 2020 then they deserve to lose again. While she would have been slightly better than the joke of a president the US has now, Clinton was a terrible candidate who nobody really wanted. She's just an establishment authoritarian neoliberal right winger who doesn't represent the views of the left. On the other hand, Trump is an establishment corporate elitist neoliberal who's been fed by the silver spoon his entire life and is also socially a far right authoritarian extremist. See the problem yet? The American people are crying out for change. Trump managed to con some people into believing that he was that change, but he's just the latest in a long conga line of lying right wing politicians who promise to improve the lives of everyday people via trickle down economics. It never trickles down, it just pools at the top. The solution in 2020 is the same as it was back in 2016. His name is Bernie Sanders, the most popular politician in America right now. Will the Democrats learn from their disastrous mistake in 2016? Time will tell. Sooner or later, time will tell.

Real based off average Internet speeds

I would **** LOVE to see Bernie Sanders run in 2020, but I doubt it will ever happen. Maybe if Trump does something truly catastrophic that American people demand change, but otherwise, it'll be the status quo.

That map doesn't correspond to the data on Speedtest Global Index. On first look G20 countries like Brazil, Mexico and Indonesia are all ranked below us but show up as green on that map. Australia is ranked 55th for fixed line, which isn't that impressive. Wonder where we would rank if everybody who had access to NBN was connected and on the fastest plan. I regularly get around 80Mbps which is top 10 ranked. Average speed would be around 50-60Mbps which is top 25. Its more than enough for the kids to stream Netflix on multiple devices while I'm gambling online or downloading porn.
Surprisingly Australia is ranked 7th for mobile internet speeds.

Unfortunately Bernie’s time has passed, he’ll be 79 by the next election and I don’t think Americans are ready for him anyway. The government really did a number on the psyche of their culture with the communism fear during the Cold War, any program that helps the less fortunate is viewed as communist in nature so a big no no.The Nickman wrote:

Yeah, mine absolutely rips too, I'm pretty sure I'm often around 100mbps... I honestly can say I've never had a single drama with my NBN.Northern Raider wrote:That map doesn't correspond to the data on Speedtest Global Index. Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Its a fair point but I'd imagine these types of flow on law changes will be adjusted over time. Just needs to be done without fanfare or debate. If it all happens in the background then nobody will even notice. If people start jumping up and down, waving signs then it will only reignite unnecessary public argument.Notaroboticfish wrote:Article bringing attention to leftover discrimination in marriage, however this one is a state issue, rather than a federal one
