Surely it has to go to retrial..

Based on what ive read, which isnt much btw, but it seems a given that the conviction should be quashed but i dont like their chances of getting a result on this case

When asked to rate their overall life satisfaction on a scale of 0 to 10, Canberrans aged 15 and older picked an average of 7.7, new research from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows.

That was above the Australian average of 7.6 and just below the highest average of 7.8 in South Australia.

Residents of NSW, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia and the Northern Territory all recorded an average of 7.6, while Tasmania was on par with the the capital at 7.7.

I'm glad to hear of such a marked improvement!

It depends, it doesn't give a sample size but given its the abs it's probably a big survey.

You could also probably assume almost no-one put down less than 6 so they can be disregarded.

.2 is kind of significant over a big sample on a number out of 4.

Asbestos in Parkes Way tunnel slows re-opening

The truck stuck in the Acton Tunnel on Parkes Way has been freed from the ceiling and repositioned within the tunnel.

However, motorists are being warned the westbound lanes of the tunnel are unlikely to reopened before Wednesday's peak evening commute times.

Roads minister Mick Gentleman said he understood the truck did not have the required permit for its height.

I was surprised Joy Birch wasn't driving the truck. She's usually involved in any Canberra stuff ups, especially when roads are involved.

I drove around canberra in the middle of the Parkes Way Closure... traffic was heavier than usual, which placed it firmly in the "moving relatively freely" category.

I will NEVER tire of Canberra residents bitching about traffic. No idea how **** blessed they are.

It really is the best for a laugh isn't it?

Controversial, but I think it's why everybody is such an aggressive and annoying driver in Canberra. Not used to the courtesy that has to be shown when levels of traffic are a lot higher.

Brutal coward punch attack in Canberra leaves victim in surgery

AN attacker who left a man unconscious on a Canberra street after a vicious coward punch is still on the loose. CCTV footage shows the victim in conversation with a man outside a city convenience store when a third man approaches from the side and punches him in the head. The victim was knocked to the ground and left unconscious, and required emergency surgery.

I can say I've never had an issue in civic at night, never been hassled

3 AM. Says it all. Young (and not so young) men go out at night looking for a ****. You can take it from an experienced player, if you haven't lined one up before midnight the odds of your doing so are absolutely minimal.
After that hour the only young men about are disappointed and frustrated blokes full of grog and bitterness at yet another night of failure.
Nothing good ever happens after midnight. Cut your losses and save your money. Go home.

I would usually start about 10:30 or thereabouts, although I think generally people tended to start earlier then. I would usually go home about 1:00 if I didn't have something in prospect.
When I was a teenager closing time for almost all licensed premises was 10:00 PM. That put the pressure on!
