Nominations Open - The GH Music Tournament

Post by FuiFui BradBrad »

Hi all,

After listening to Triple M, and participating in the Phrase Connect game, I thought it would be cool to run a GH Musician tournament. See who TheGH decides is the best musician in existence.

I’m calling for nominations for who you would like to see compete in this music tournament. The top 32 will then be randomised and compete in a series of 1 vs 1 match ups where you will vote to decide who wins. Unlike the Triple M version, this tournament is open to all music genres.

So get nominating, and if you see someone who has already been nominated that you agree with, throw a x2 next to their name to guarantee them a spot.

I’ll get the ball rolling with some suggestions
Foo Fighters
INXS
Nirvana
Live
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Paolo Nutini
Angus and Julia Stone
Marvin Gaye
Feel free to call me RickyRicky StickStick if you like. I will also accept Super Fui, King Brad, Kid Dynamite, Chocolate-Thunda... or Brad.

REM
Diana Ross and the Supremes
The Police
Tina Turner
Queen
Elton John
Simon and Garfunkel
David Bowie
Madonna
Michael Jackson
Prince
Bruce Springsteen

You have to put Elvis and The Beatles on a list.

Billie Holiday... Chet Baker... not on that list. What about Frank Sinatra. In different genres.

INXS Never Tear Us Apart is my favourite Australian song ever. Love James Reyne's voice, also Braithwaite.

Chris Isaak Wicked Game is my favourite song ever. The Wicked Game album is my favourite of all time. It is a compilation, but every song is great.

It does seem strange that some of those old rock bands that critics love have missed.

I don't even know who these people are:

30 seconds to mars
Angus and Julia Stone
Boy and Bear
Elliott Smith
Live
Paolo Nutini
Queens of the Stone Age
The White Stripes
Vance Joy
Violent Soho

I wouldn't have known who The Killers are either until recently.

I think there should be x-1s!

Minus 1s from me for all those!

Zeppelin is already on the list. I’ll move 30 seconds to Mars. I fee I’m the only one on the forum who likes them

GE your mind is going to be during this comp. Angus and Julia, Boy and Bear, Live and Paolo are all pretty awesome.

I’ll see if I can find some samplers

Only ever heard the third song. They're all very good, but I don't think any of them qualify for the best musicians or band ever!

Yeah good thinking. Nominations will keep going - Then we’ll vote for the final... I dunno, what do you all think, 32 or 64?

I saw Ben Harper, Fleetwood Mac and realised they need to be included haha. Dire Straits, Lenny Kravitz, John Farnham, Screaming Jets and Cold Chisel also
