My opinion on this changes weekly, however Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits has always been right up there.

Mine changes too frequently depending on mood and activity, though one that's been up there for around 30years would have to be "Stars and Stripes of Corruption" by the Dead Kennedy's, music wise not the most talented song but love the lyrics and the feel to it. Jello Biafra would definitely have to be my favorite lyricist.
