Re: Fishing in canberra
Carp, that's about it
Re: Fishing in canberra
People fish in the lakes, but they mostly seem to catch carp. They do stock LBG with other species though.
Re: Fishing in canberra
Def don't eat anything you catch especially LBG.
Re: Fishing in canberra

Re: Fishing in Canberra
Scottish word for lake.
Re: Fishing in Canberra
Technically, it can refer to any large body of water, including a bay, inlet or estuary.greeneyed wrote:Scottish word for lake.
Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
Re: Fishing in Canberra
If it rains heavy enough, LBG has brown sharks
Re: Fishing in Canberra
Some amazing tropical fish in lake Tuggeranong.
Well they seem to have tropical "Blue Green colour" when caught near the algae.

It's not too bad mate, nothing worth eating unless you know my Chinese next door neighbours who can make carp taste truly awesome.Ultra raider wrote:Is there still fish in the two lakes in Canberra , coming up with family for sharks game want to go fishing while there any advice . There's red and yellow belly in lake ginnandera and Gungahlin ponds, there's Murray cod in Gungahlin pond as well but don't tell anyone the secret.
Scrivener dam will produce good yellow belly.
Most people that do it have a little hobbi kayak setup with lures but off the bank with a bell will work, especially with powerbait.

Yeh I think so mate, wood grubs as well at Pratts in Belconnen.
They have a bit of attitude but if you can get past that they will steer you in the direction of some good spots

Haha, change would be unnacceptable at Pratts, they are cranky bastards but still the best in the business locally.Ultra raider wrote:Thanks mate use to go there when I lived there , does nt look like things have changed at pratts in 25 years either .Shadow Boxer wrote:Yeh I think so mate, wood grubs as well at Pratts in Belconnen.

Ive seen a few dolphins in Lake George as I've been driving past. Apparently the best bait it tinned asparagus but they are an incredibly hard catch. Fantastic eating fish if you do manage to haul one though.
