Words you can't stand

Post by greeneyed »

TASTY. I really have an aversion to that word. I don't know what it is, maybe it is because it is so banal. You taste something, and it can please you or not, but this suggests it tastes good. Or maybe it just sounds like a word a three year old made up. Or maybe it's just the sound if it. But I hate it.

I hate when people pronounce asked 'aksed'. Sends shivers up my spine.

I was watching this Grand Designs show and the presenter described this building as a 'palatial palace'.

I felt that didn't make sense. To me that's like saying "ANZAC Bridge is a very bridgey bridge"

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

The c-bomb is the worst word in existence. I honestly think vulgar swearing tops my list.

The c bomb is one of my personal favourites.. It's only a wordy word.. In fact it's delicious!!

The word I hate the moist is "ointment".
Avatar Bet - bleedgreen99 - Raiders to make (BG99)/miss(Lucy) the 8. Avatar from last round of regular season 2015 until GF 2016.
Signature Bet - Raider85 - Raiders to get(Lucy)/miss(R85) the wooden spoon. Signature for entire offseason.
Bottle of something to the value of $70 - Matthew Borewood to not see (Lucy)/to see (Piggles) a first grade game in 2015 for the Warriors.
The Name Change Bet - Regarding the three bets above;
I win all three I keep my name.
I win one I become "the Punish"
I lose all I become "Chicken Little"

Xmas.

You may as well replace the beginning of any proper noun you couldn't be bothered writing with an X. For example, later in January I plan on going down the south coast and having a holiday near Xmans Bay.

Queue is another dumb word. How on earth is that pronounced the same way as 'cue', or 'q' for that matter?

At least 40% too many letters.

What do people have against the word "moist" I've met a few that can't stand it, is it only when used in certain contexts or just the word in general?

X82 I really hate the word moniker. It sounds like a character from "Friends".

Also, I think people should give reasons for disliking a word. Except Luffty, as I know I'll have to edit it.

The word literally.

It's the most redundant word in the English dictionary.

Unless you talk major **** and people never believe you, you should never have to use that word. It's basically saying "Hey guys, I always lie when I'm telling you something but this time I'm actually telling the truth so please believe me ok?"

Absolute joke of a word.
"A hex on your house, and more importantly your health"
"I truly hope the spirit of my mate gives you hell, you deserve it"
