The Greenhouse Man Rules #4 - Voting open

Post by FuiFui BradBrad »

Week four of the man rules. We are slowly starting to get an idea about what the Greenhouse Man is all about. Thanks to you all we have decided that the Greenhouse man:
  • Is allowed to apply sunscreen on another man.
    Can never wear Budgie Smugglers
Finds it acceptable to carry his partner/wife/girlfriends* shopping bags
They have all been pretty unanimous so far, lets see if that trend continues. This week's man rule is

Real men read women's magazines

Again, inspired from a personal moment. When I first moved to Sydney and started going out, one of the guys I use to board with would tell me that a great way to attract women is to read magazines such as Cosmo, Cleo etc. He said that they offered insight into the opposite sex, and can be used as a 'Pick up bible'.

I have since told women this and they agreed that it's a bit weird, and guys shouldn't read those magazines. But who is right? Is it weird for guys to read Cosmo, or is this perfectly acceptable?

Greenhousos, it is time to vote

* Probably a good idea not to carry them all at the same time, I see potential for conflict.
Feel free to call me RickyRicky StickStick if you like. I will also accept Super Fui, King Brad, Kid Dynamite, Chocolate-Thunda... or Brad.

Why would you want to read a woman's magazine? I don't care if you do, but I wonder why on earth you would read woman's day.
Chick fitness magazines are ok tho
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Don't pretend that it's not a no because people from Rocky can't read.

Perhaps for you we should have asked if it was ok to look at the pictures in a women's mag?

I read them.

What of it?
Avatar Bet - bleedgreen99 - Raiders to make (BG99)/miss(Lucy) the 8. Avatar from last round of regular season 2015 until GF 2016.
Signature Bet - Raider85 - Raiders to get(Lucy)/miss(R85) the wooden spoon. Signature for entire offseason.
Bottle of something to the value of $70 - Matthew Borewood to not see (Lucy)/to see (Piggles) a first grade game in 2015 for the Warriors.
The Name Change Bet - Regarding the three bets above;
I win all three I keep my name.
I win one I become "the Punish"
I lose all I become "Chicken Little"

I wouldn't buy one, but if the only magazines available in the doctors waiting room were Cleopolitons Weekly I'd have a flick through..

Though there hasn't really been need to flick through them to pass time since smart phones came out.

Yes.

However my wife and I enjoy reading fitness mags and often read each other's relative magazine. She reads men's health because she finds some articles interesting and vice versa

Only in waiting rooms, only as an absolute last resort and only with an amused, cynical detachment.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
