I think if you stayed in the overnight accommodation it'd be worth a trip, especially. And if it coincided with a Raiders game, it'd be a no brainer. I'd love to stay in the tiger enclosure... because you're guaranteed getting close up (behind the glass). The accommodation near the giraffes had a field nearby that was pretty stinky... I'd skip that. The accommodation looks pretty good though.
It's a pretty nice zoo... the aquarium could be better.

It will be after GF day. Oct 28-Nov 2 I think. MrsPJ wants to get away. I have some time off for my 50th and QLD is shut. She's looking at some accommodation in Kingston. I don't know anything about that suburb..greeneyed wrote: ↑August 18, 2020, 7:54 pmI think if you stayed in the overnight accommodation it'd be worth a trip, especially. If you stay in the East Hotel, you’ll be staying in one of the best. But there’s lots of great places to stay in Kingston. Ignore the fact someone was recently killed at the Kingo. It’s a nice, real pub. (Seriously that happened, but Kingston is the lowest crime area in the world.).-PJ- wrote: ↑August 18, 2020, 8:43 pmIt will be after GF day. Oct 28-Nov 2 I think. And you can come have a drink with me! Maybe The Dock!
Kingston and Manuka have a zillion cafes and restaurants. Leafy streets, parks, perfect old Canberra. It’s a lot quieter than it usually is atm, of course. But it’s right in the middle of all the key Canberra attractions.

I took the kids to the Zoo last school holidays, they enjoyed it, it was very good, but if you are doing a Zoo road trip Dubbo wins hands down for me. Cheaper onsite accom options as well.-PJ- wrote: ↑August 19, 2020, 7:03 pm Hey GE..thanks for the input. If I visit Kingston ill be carrying..

Coffs is on my list of places to go. Old man grew up around Grafton and Coffs, so I’ve always wanted to head up and check out his old stomping ground.
Furthest north I’ve driven so far is Port Macquarie. Love it up there

The Byron area is spectacular too, but potentially lost a bit of it's charm. I haven't spent too much time there in the past 15 years. My sister still lives in Lismore but previously at Lennox Head, which was a great spot.
Been a long time since I've seen so much rain in Canberra. Dams must be full in the south east of Australia.

I’ve heard the same about Byron. I have a mate who told me to avoid Byron and go to a place just south. Has similar beaches without the people... might be Lennox Head? I can’t remember.

I have an echo straight shaft whipper snipper, petrol jobbie absolute ripper. carby gaskets perished and couldn't buy new ones so I ordered a new carby from the US and waited 4 weeks delivery, turns up slightly different and won't run properly. $90aud down the drain.
Now to decide on buying another one or taking to my local repairer, probably cheaper to replace it

Lennox Heads is nice but Brunswick heads which is north of Byron is my pick for that area.Fuifui Bradbrad wrote:I’ve heard the same about Byron. I have a mate who told me to avoid Byron and go to a place just south. Has similar beaches without the people... might be Lennox Head? I can’t remember.
The Brunswick heads hotel is the best pub for a Sunday session!

Took the girls down to Corin Forest for a toboggan, along with half of Canberra. Must have been 100 cars on the side of the road around the carpark. Isolation is clearly getting to people.

Been toying around with 45min meetings at work lately. Im becoming a fan. Often I find with 30 min meetings tend to get rushed toward the end, and 60 min meetings can drag out.
Plus with 45 min, it limits the chances of getting back-to-back meetings, and you'll bank yourself a 15min breather because no one starts a meeting at 1:15 or 1:45

Re: Off topic
So I had a 20m eucalyptus tree (pic) chopped from behind my garage today because it hung over the garage. As soon as the lads fired up the chainsaw this old woman appears from out of nowhere, eyes all lit up. She walks over to me and straight up 'what are you doing with the wood' so I said 'I want to check over it for some nice pieces for some woodwork and a friend wants some firewood, but I'll leave some for you'. Without a word of response she wanders over to the foreman and starts talking to him.
So she disappears and comes back 45 minutes later with a trolley jack and a plate of scones for the blokes and then as they're having a break - not finished the job - she just starts helping herself. Again, out of nowhere her neighbour, also an old bugger comes scurrying over with a wheelbarrow 'I'll give you a hand' and she responds 'nah, just help yourself'.... So I'm getting a bit steamed up but let them grab a couple of loads but the final straw. They've actually set a winch around the tree and one of them has chainsawed the base and they're trying to drag a 5m section to the ground (pic) and she's in there picking up more logs. They're all yelling at her to get out of the way and she's ignoring them.
So I'd had enough. Wandered over, intercepting her. I said 'that's enough, no more' she just looks at me dumbfounded 'they said I could help myself '.. I said 'this is my land, that's my house' pointing to my house .. 'but it's strata land...' I cut her off, 'no this is my land and besides you're not even a part of this strata, you don't pay rates or strata fees for this land'.... 'oh but I know [name].... '
I just looked at her and she finally backed off. And stood 30 metres away watching them finish the job.
Now most here know me enough to know I am a petty, petty man. I spent the next two hours shifting probably a 2 truck loads of wood, just so they didn't get any more.
