I don't particularly want Brett Stewart to sign here, I won't care if he doesn't, and I agree that he would probably command more kangas than a man of his age would deserve. I haven't kept up with his injury history either so I don't know if he's robust, on the full return, on the downward slide, or a Kewell-style crock. BUT, if he did, and he was fir enough to be a regular contributor, I reckon he would offer a hell of a lot. I stand to be corrected but I've always thought of him as an average, reasonable defender. He has a mean pass. He's clearly a team man. He won't be playing origin. And he would almost certainly set a standard at training and in general.

If he was in green I think it would take one week before we all loved him, barring disaster or injury. I could see Milford having a field day running off inside passes, and whoever's at right centre and wing profiting also. It might only last two seasons but he could be the backrow version of Jason Smith.

Or maybe Tyran Smith. Just saying that there is a potentially great upside. Or it'd be a great belated Christmas present.

Hey SB I noticed from a post elsewhere that yes, you may be the oldest poster here (I think you beat me by about six months, I'm not yet 50 and I fell asleep at the Statesman after the 89 GF) - so I don't know precisely what to make of Rod's musings about middle age. Possibly the lesson is that one should post merely (or is that purely?) for recreational purposes? Or listen to more metal?

Just joking, funnily enough my observation of the 15 to 18 year old kids coming through ( I also have a 15 year old) is that the get smashed till you vomit antics of their older brothers and sisters doesn't really interest them.

We live in canberra because my wifes profession is an absolute **** fight in sydney... care to take a guess why its not a **** fight in canberra?

Ill help you out... all you have to do is fill in the gaps:

Very, very few people in her profession have any interest in living in Canbe_ra, even for better pay and furthering their careers. They'd rather live in Sydn_y, working as registrar level for around 110k than move to canberra to practise as a specialist for 200+.

We like Canberra, we were happy to settle down into a boring family life, which is exactly what we've done. I am the poster child for everything you are wrong about

I am under no illusions... i am living the dream. Couldnt be happier with my situation and it's worked out so much better than i could ever have hoped for.
Living in a town i like and think will good for my family as opposed to a city i love and enjoy the lifestyle is one of many sacrifices i will make for my kids.

You should read my posts a little more. Ive said any number of times, i like the town and it suits my situation perfectly right now, and would happily talk anyone who is aiming for what i have to making the move. Its a fantastic town to live the family life... but the family life isnt that exciting. That's the point
by pointing out the flaws in the town and providing reasons why i has never and probably will never be able to compete with big cities for tourist dollars and elite sportsmen, doesnt mean i hate the place. It just means im realistic about what it offers.

If one thing in this entire fiasco has been made apparent, it's that not a lot of this makes sense to you. Which is not to say it doesn't make sense. Put simply, you don't appear to be anywhere near the pulse of the matter. It seems genuinely beyond your comprehension.

Probably has something to do with the fact no one pretends that Penrith is capable of competing with Sydney as either a tourist destination, or a spot that elite footballers want to live. If anyone wants to make that case, im more than happy to give Penrith a good kicking too

But of course no one is that dumb, nor should they be with Canberra

The difference between us and the Panthers is the Panthers recruits dont have to live in Penrith to play for their club, they can, and do live in much better surroundings than Penrith... if Penrith were 3 hours away from the action, they'd suffer the same problems Canberra does in attracting talent from other clubs... i.e they wouldnt. Because the place is not that exciting, the best thing it has going for it is its proximity to Sydney. An advantage Canberra does not enjoy.

Which is why im a better chance at turning out for the Canberra Raiders than Glenn Stewart is
