Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Those speed patches work really well on max too. He likes to hide then jump on Nahla. Scares the crap out of her. Then she goes ROWR really loud and scares me. Then Max runs away

Watching this doco on the Polynesians, and how they were nomadic, travelling the ocean to discover the Cook Islands, Tonga, Samoa, New Zealand and Hawaii.
What I’m not getting, and hoping someone here can shed light, is how did they miss Australia? Seems like they skirted the area, but missed the largest island in their area.

Seems the ACT Government is now considering a 40km limit on all suburban roads, reducing them from 50km limits. Personally, I wouldn't like to see it.

A lot of this is just revenue raising, and a lot of speed limits in the ACT are already too low, given the quality and safeness of the roads.

Re: Off topic
I'd like to share a story and this thread is good to go...
Today..Feb 17 is an important date in my life as it was the day I joined the Army in 1988. I was just a kid and my parents drove me from Toronto NSW to Sydney to be sworn in and eventually get on a bus to Wagga where basic training is held. I rang my mum this morning to tell her that was 30years ago today. She nearly fell over....A 7hr bus ride to 1RTB(1st Recruit Training Battalion) had us arriving at camp at 1200 midnight and we were taken to the barber shop where my head was shaved to a zero..I was 17.. I knew they they were going to do it and I'd even shaved my own head the day before but...it wasn't short enough.
I'd like to go back a little and tell you all about the interviews/testing involved to be selected. I might add if youre mentally stable and reasonably fit you'll be ok.
Anyway after a rigorous fitness test and a grab of the jewels I thought I'd gone ok, I'd answered plenty of questions about the urge to jump off a cliff, do I feel like killing my my mother etc.. This whole process had taken hours. The Army had actually put me up in a hotel the night before in the Southern Hotel in Sydney. I can remember watching an ODI that night(AUSvWI). Anyway after all the testing and interviews we were all sitting in this waiting area..they're must have been 100 of us. This big burly moustached Sgt came out and said.." Ok listen up" if I call your name I want you to grab your personal belongings and move downstairs. He started to read out names..it took 10mins. My name wasn't read out. At the end there was 7 of us sitting there and I thought us 7 had missed out...Wrong.. Us 7 had actually passed and the other 93 odd had been sent home.
You see..us it turned out they had asked us a thousand questions during the interview stage including have you ever used drugs..it wont go against you..just tell the truth..blah..blah ..blah. But it wasn't just drugs. Flat feet.. Dirtbag.. Dickwipe..you know what I'm saying.. They were all knocked on the head. Anyway you could imagine my horror when after these names were called out I was sitting there with 6 others thinking..**** right. So the Sarge says " congrats men, you have successfully passed the testing and will be notified in coming weeks when to reappear here in Sydney for the swear in. I was so proud, I rang mum in Newcastle..she cried..and I think I did a little as well.
Hey I'm sorry if this is dribble to most of you, but some might find it interesting.
Cheers PJ.

If revenue raising was their goal they could stand plain clothes police at intersections along Northbourne and have them issue fines for drivers using their phones. They could raise $10's of $1000's before people started to catch on.

During the Workd Cup, I had the good fortune to speak to Channel 7’s Jim Wilson. The GH responded to one of his tweets, complaining about how an extraordinary World Cup match was cut off early in terms of post match coverage.
He sent The GH a direct message and asked if he could call us... he basically agreed it was not the best thing to have happened, but Seven had contractual arrangements to cross to another sport. He took a huge amount of time out of his day to talk about it. It wasn’t a one minute call, he wanted to chat at length about the World Cup and the (very good, for the most part) Seven coverage. He could not have been nicer, he was a genuine enthusiast about our sport.
I just saw a tweet from him tonight, promoting a cancer charity. It was a photo of him and the doctor who tried to save his six year old son. He’s lost his sister Rebecca to cancer and his young son, but he’s out promoting a charitable cause. It must have been so hard for him, but he was there doing it.
Impressive man. If you’re on Twitter, follow him @JimWilsonTV.

Just watched this ep of Crimes that shook the World, on Gary Ridgeway. Made me realise, I can’t remember the last time I heard about a serial killer on the loose. They seemed to be rampant up until the 80’s/90’s. I mean right proper ones that send clues to police and everything.
