It was 42C at 10pm in Vegas last night. Hope this helps.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

driving to work this morning about 6.30, something up ahead didn't quite look right then I realised it was a full grown stag walking onto the road from behind a tree. 80kmh zone I swerved to the wrong side of the road missed him by not much car behind me missed too - we both stopped but the big bugger had taken off, one more step he'd have been in my car with me.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

There's a 18th birthday party next door tonight. If it interupts the footy later they'll be massive issues. The mother of this young lady gave me notice of this upcoming event last weekend..which was nice of her I thought.
I have to block the path down the side of my house to stop these youngsters bonking in my yard.

Re: Off topic
I need to know how this turned out
Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Well..it's the morning after the night before and and have to say that party was lame..
These 18yr olds these days are soft..probably just sitting around in a circle txting each other.
When I was 18 !!! Oh boy..
After the footy last night I went out the front to have a look for a dog to kick and yes the young people were still drinking and yelling but it faded out not long after.
No smashed glass on the road, no snapped aerials on cars, no drunks sleeping in gutters, no letterboxes torn off their posts...nothing..lame..
The cops didn't even show...

Usually before dogwatch on a Sunday night I'm off the grog. But I've got jury duty in the morning and I'm enjoying a few beers in my man shed this arvo...
I don't what's going to happen tomorrow morning. I could there an hour or I could be invited back Tues.
Once the judge racks up some PJ time I could be in court for weeks....
I'm easy..
