it's funny Fui, I literally go out of my way to be helpful to nice people or people I can relate to, the old treat others thing.
Mrs Bone gets frustrated that I allow first impressions that I'm just a ****, 6 foot big guy, shaved head, goatee i get it, I'm happy that way I reckon you see true colours faster.
Sunday, aldi Carpark I was on my own just grabbing a few things, lady a bit younger with a trolley full and 2 boys maybe 1 and 3yr old battling to stop the 3yr old running amok in the Carpark while she loads the car - I went over put her bags in the car connected her trolley to mine gave her token back she was stoked (wary but stoked).
Ftr I'm a "no dramas" guy.

Fuifui Bradbrad wrote: November 21, 2019, 7:55 am What are people's thoughts on "You're welcome" vs "No problem" when someone thanks you?

I'm a "No problem" person, and never really gave it much thought, until I read this piece that made me think about it. Essentially it was saying "You're welcome" tends to come from a time where assisting or helping people was seen as a task not typically expected of them, so helping someone was kind of going that extra mile. So its like saying "I accept your thanks, because I know I deserve it"

"No problem" meanwhile is a more recent term, where assisting someone is expected, and the need for help shouldn't be seen as a burden

Keen to see what the GH Universe thinks. I imagine Boney is more of a "Right, now **** off" kinda guy
Being a jerk I don't like anyone to feel that I accept their welcome. Just a little snarl of derision and walk off.
Now some would ask me "why help at all if you are a jerk" and to them I say the contrast between being genuinely helpful and then suddenly a jerkass not only makes them question your motives for every nice thing you've ever done it also makes it clear you're the dominant Alpha male (if the person was a woman that's even more Alpha). They know that they owe you, and that's just, nice.

Which is such a weird expression haha.

I really only use "You're welcome" in circumstances where i am being purposely self congratulatory
Like when my wife has spent all day parenting whilst i sat on my **** all day watching sports, and then i put her coffee cup in the dishwasher and loudly proclaim

"Hey Mrs Botman, silly you! You left your coffee cup on the table. I rinsed it and put it in the dishwasher for you. You're welcome!"

I don't think I ever have or ever will use "you're welcome", which is why it sounds so weird when you go to America and everyone says it.

I'm a "no problem" guy.
And I find it very easy to be nice to people, especially when meeting them for the first time.
You never know what sort of day they have had, or even if their last hour has been peaceful.

First impressions are important.

And boney...if you approached me in a carpark I'd be freakin the hell out.. :D

“You’re welcome” really isn’t used much over here, but when I’ve been to America I notice how much people say it and at first I thought they were much more polite than us, but I just realised in Australia people say something different.
I'm a 'no worries' guy as well. New York was a 'mhah' or 'mmheh' response, difficult to write but almost a grunt. Caught me by surprise yet I catch myself doing it occasionally.

Moral dilemma.
On Tues as per usual the call goes out for who is available for cricket, I was a yes.
Teams come out Thursday I'm not named in any grade, no dramas I'll take the kids for Santa photos etc it's predicted 37° I'm not unhappy.
I've heard nothing from anyone then I just decide to check the "mycricket" app and I'm down to play 4th grade with the team updated sometime this morning.

Not sure whether to take my whites and 2 cars for the morning duties then head to cricket or just blow it off as I wasn't told I'm playing. I'll probably play so I don't let them down but gee I'm cranky.

It's common courtesy that if you are needed they at least check you're still available

A 'slow' hand clap to the ACT govt for putting on a festival near the lake and then closing a lane along Northbourne ave so two blokes can do a bit of gardening next to your tram - and also doing roadwork on the Tuggeranong parkway.

Caught a 15cm blue tongue lizard in the garage yesterday. When I heard the rustling and saw the head pop out I almost **** myself. Once I finally caught the little bugger, and letting the girls have a look he shat on me.

I've never tried water skiing - contact lenses and lots of water sports don't mix too well - but if I did my hoselink would be the first thing on the checklist.

I’ve never tried waterskiing before either. When I was a teen, I had this hair brain idea of screwing some old boots onto skis, and getting towed on the back of a quad bike. Didn’t work, and I nearly broke my ankles.

I don’t think the Hoselink would have survived that either

I've got one for ya all.

I'm sitting in my red Suzuki Vitara this morning at a doctors surgery carpark. The monster has a blood test. She tells me she won't be long and I may as well stay in the car if I wish.

So off she waddles with her walker. I reckon 15 mins has passed and my phone rings..it's the monster.

PJ- Hello, what's up ? Are you ok ?
MIL- Where are you ? I'm standing behind your car and you're not here.
(I look in the rearview mirror..no monster)
PJ- Wait..
She's still on the line, I get out and walk to the back of my car. She's about 10-15 car spaces away standing behind a red Rav4.
PJ-'Tell me, what model car do I drive ?
MIL- Suzuki.
PJ-'And what model car are you standing behind ?
MIL- Toyota Rav 4.
PJ- Wow.

I hang up, the old girl finally sees me and waddles over. We go home..

How funny is that ? I love the elderly...
