Why the Twitter hate?
Gives people a voice that seriously don't need to be heard.

Suspect that’s true of any social media. It’s probably worse on Facebook in that regard. But it is the way of democracy. Our Twitter community is very smart and they’re nice people too... so we have good interactions there. Plus it is the best place for breaking news.

It is perhaps more worrying for me that false accounts get established for political reasons. There are a couple of great documentaries around... I think both on Netflix. One shows precisely how a Russian state entity intervened with fake profiles in the 2016 US Presidential election. The other explains how Facebook works... and which allows actual “fake news”, not the Trump kind, and fake minority political groups to spread.
Thought I’d whack this over here and not hi-jack GE’s other thread.

Been off most social media platforms now since July. Realised how much time I spent on them, and wasn’t getting anything.

Only one I have now is Instagram because Mrs Fui sends me memes, and Reddit because I can control what I want to see more

Twitter is just a garbage fire, but there's ways to filter it to just what you want to see.

I pretty much have anything political or covid related muted, so all I see is sport stuff

The NSW government is going to introduce mobile speed camera vehicles without all the reflective decal.

That’s right..just a plain car on the side of the road to catch us speeding..

They really don’t like us.

Of course those of us who obey the road rules won’t be affected.

Others are screwed..

I saw my first MSC without the pre-warning signs today. Not surprised this would be the next step.

I’ve also heard they’re looking at installing average speed cameras on Sydney freeways where the toll collections are. If only they did that on the trains as well

I’d like to see more enforcement of general dangerous driving laws. So many people these days tailgating and cutting across lanes at high speed. But there never seems to be police around to see them and pull them over.

One for the Canberrans, rumour has it in the ACT the police are more relaxed on traffic infringements, because it’s the AFP, and they have better things to worry about.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Question for the GHers, Mrs Fui and I were watching Grand Designs, and talking floorplans. I was saying how I’m into the idea of a U shaped house, with the Master Bed, Ensuite and dressing room / massive wardrobe on one side, Beds 2, 3, 4 / Office on the other side, and lounge room, Kitchen in the middle. With this plan, the bottom of the U would be the front of the house. I’m liking this, because there’d be potential for a courtyard in the middle.

Anyway, Mrs Fui’s semi-into it, but thinks the idea of a kitchen at the front of the house would be weird. I’ve never thought of it until she mentioned it, but I don’t think I’ve seen a kitchen at the front.

My question: Kitchen at the front of a house, weird or no?

I reckon that plan is fine. If you're concerned about it, have a think about ways of making the kitchen (which should go at one end) not look dominant in the living area (butler's pantry or making it slightly less open via a bench for example). Or you could put two rooms in the very front (eg office, home theatre snug), either side of a hall or foyer... and the lounge/family/dining/kitchen area open out from the hall/foyer. That means that when you first walk in, you don't look straight in on a kitchen.

Thanks Fui..

Hey let’s talk about Maccas.

Just when you thought their hotcakes couldn’t get any smaller..their latest $$$ grabbing rort is “mini hotcakes with Nutella”. They’re not hotcakes, they’re pikelets !!!!

Are they going to Woolies..buying packets of pikelets..spreading Nutella on them and bleeding customers god knows how much ?

And btw..I don’t eat the rubbish.

Remember the days when mum and dad packed up the kids in the family car and hit Maccas cuz mum didn’t want to cook ? I swear this “family restaurant” is out of reach to the hard working middle class family these days.

Of course Maccas is not alone.

Yeah I hear ya Peej. I remember when a Quarter Pounder meal was $5.45. It was my go to lunch when I started working in Sydney

I’ve been reading up on shrinkflation lately BJ Novak (aka Ryan from The Office) is doing a bit of campaigning on it. He did an interview where he held up a Creme Egg from a few years back next to a Creme Egg now. The latest one is much smaller and the same price as the old one

There’s plenty of that going on Fui. A family block of Cadbury’s chocolate was 9 rows, it’s now 8. Is it cheaper ? NO...

Maccas hotcakes used to overlap the tray..they were huge..now..tiny.

Yeah don’t even get me started on Potato Chips.

In other news, today was drinking day for the first Fui OG Beer. Dud. Didn’t seem to ferment, I think my carbonation drops didn’t absorb properly. So it’s back to the drawing board with my recipe

Thanks boner,

Had a quiet one. MrsPJ had a first aid course to attend yesterday morning. Then later on in the arv we went into Horseshoe beach and watched a few coal ships going in and out. It was real busy, plenty dropping a line in the harbour..

I had Subway for dinner..

I take it there was no cricket yesterday.
