It is. Mum decided to evacuate Gordon before the order comes. It's scary down there.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Conder, Banks and Gordon on standby to evacuate, apparently. My mum got out before the rush, there's only one way out with Tharwa Road blocked. Don't think it would be worth trying Tidbinbilla Road.

People on FB weather watchers groups are saying it's causing its own lightning storm

That's the concern, ala 2003 where it created more fires and more storms

It was already a fire storm at 5pm, I think... that's what that cloud was in my pic above. It's a huge concern.

Is this down at Banks/Tharwa way? I'm in Kambah and it doesn't look good - looking straight down towards Kambah pool.

I grew up in Theodore and can remember many a small fire in the reserve behind our house. But absolutely nothing like these. I hope everyone down there stays safe.

Fire warning reduced to "advice"... but in the last hour or so, there is an orange glow over Canberra, as smoke haze thickens.

It cost me $985 to cut off some monster branches that were hanging over the house.

It's costing $4000 to have it removed...

That's right !!!!
