Petrol was 66.9 cents in Ayr in 1996
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

You can buy Dr pepper and root beer in IGA stores, and at Coles. I love the stuff. Cold root beer on a hot day is unbeatable

If we're talking prices, a packet of cigarettes for $1.20 where the same pack now costs about $20

But it's not the proper Dr pepper it's the high fructose corn syrup crap. Ironically Woolworths down here has a UK section with UK Dr pepper which tastes better.. Ironically it's sugar based and brewed under license by coke lol.

Cheapest I remember fuel since I've been driving is 65c back in '97.
When I started smoking, a pack of 20's was about $3.50 at the newsagents (supermarkets wouldn't sell to me because I was under age).
Neighbour across the road used to get me XXXX ctns for $15 a pop.
When I was at school in Canberra choc drops and fruit balls were 1c each; a meat pie from the canteen was 80c.
Ironically I remember pizzas (Silvio's, later dominos) was relatively expensive! But there were 3 sizes.

Have you listed to the new album yet. I've only really listed to the non deluxe album. It's not his best work, but probably his best stuff post curtain call and on par with recovery, and is far better than most mainstream crap I mean rap.Toviii wrote:It's been a while hasn't it?PrimetimeRaider wrote:A good Eminem single

Re: Things you remember that don't exist anymore....
I don't blame you to be honest. Relapse was pretty bad. If you listen to it a few times it grows on you. Recovery wasn't too bad. There's a few tracks with the new album where it's hit or miss. Think it's about 9 to 15 where it's more a reflection on previous albums and life and it's not for everyone where as from 1 to 8 is pretty solid. Not great and no Marshall mathers 2 in terms of what a sequel should be.. But overall I'd give it a Papalli out of 10 (ie a 6.6)Toviii wrote:I haven't yet to be honest DBOT. You can still get them at woolies, but they don't seem as sherberty as when we were kids. I'm not sure if its our taste bud maturing or the sherbert being diluted with corn flour. Alos, did you ever notice how sometimes you'll get two or even three spoons in one pack and then none in another? Weird.Dave wrote:Wizz fizz
