One saving grace is the weather in Rocky is noticeably less humid already and it was this period last year that I made steady gains. By June I was doing 10km runs in about 57/58.
Fast forward a week and I’ve knocked 3min off to be about 1:01:45, pretty pleased to be rapidly getting back to where I was now the Bull Rocky humidity has **** off for another summer
Rocky River Run is about six weeks away now, I’ve never done the 10km course in this event, but honestly anywhere under an hour I’ll consider a raging success

Mountain biking ATM? I have no idea what that entails exactly, but it sounds **** disgusting!-TW- wrote:Really into mountain biking atm.
Probably picked a **** time to do it seeing the light after work disappears within 45m
Getting the hang of Stromlo, times are coming down on Strava which is good motivation

Haha, well im not going to be killed..
I think Im aiming around 15-16 hours, but who really knows with something this long. First time on most of the course, so target times are tricky.

Re: Health and fitness
Sub 16 would be a great time.
My 2015 attempt when my knee went about the 50km mark (and walked/limp-ran from there) ended up 19.5 hours. I'd like to think I was on track for sub 17, but who knows how that would be gone to be honest. That's why I've always felt like I'll do it again one day (have tried to lol).

Re: Health and fitness
Gladys hinting this morning that there is 'good news' to come today, and we are unlikely to head into lockdown. Given there is no restriction of footy this weekend, Id say there is very little chance of the event being covid cancelled. My bigger concern is that if there are a couple more cases, other states with require quarantine on return. Gladys is very hesitant to change anything to regress the situation, as we saw over the Northern Beaches outbreak - we still got to go the the cricket for example, but we had to wear a mask.
Re: Health and fitness
True, but tightening of restrictions might not necessitate cancellation, but put the organisers in a situation where deferring it is the financially obvious decision.Coastalraider wrote:Gladys hinting this morning that there is 'good news' to come today, and we are unlikely to head into lockdown. I think that if I'm from WA I'd be trying to salvage what I can in flights, accommodation etc. Coming from Queensland I'm not too worried about travel restrictions unless it becomes rampant in the next week

Knowing myself how events run, 80% of the money is already spent. All the hire gear, contractors etc will be locked in. All the supplies, food, expo sites etc all paid for, so it would be devastating if they had to cancel now, and would be the last resort.

Haha, pretty good. Had a rough day yesterday, just missed the mark, couldn’t get the legs going. Might have stuffed up the timing of the taper, and it was not a good week weather wise to camp before the race, x2 really bad nights sleep. Still happy to get a semi decent time on a rough day.
Your time was amazing! How are you?

I'm as sore as you would expect mate. I will farewell a few toenails during the week. But no injuries and not even a blister.Coastalraider wrote:Haha, pretty good. Awesome. I saw some photos of the course on Facebook and it looks like an amazing event. Will have to put it on the bucket list.

Re: Health and fitness
I think I could potentially do the 50. Is it as picturesque as the 100, though I reckon after about 50k you really don't give a **** about the view.

Re: Health and fitness
You can gp straight to a 100km. I did. If your are running yourself you enjoy the view, well at least I did. At the last checkpoint at 76km, it was getting dark and I decided to put the foot down. The last 24km was tough.

Re: Health and fitness
Hi mate, sorry, I’ve been a bit quiet in here!! I picked up a lung/ear infection off the back of the 100, so only got my first run again today.
I’m pretty happy with how the race went, it wasn’t quite the time I was hoping for, but given I was having an off day (might be explained a little by the shot sleeps I had camping in 0° and the fact I got sick afterwards, may have carried a bit of illness in??) but I ‘emptied the tank’ in the day and got the best out of the situation.
Now I’m pondering the next step....
