The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Re: What has made/ruined your day
Thank you. Frank was anxious and looking for her all over the place. After seeing her yesterday he relaxed but is now sad. Yuki (who i don't think has ever featured here) is more upset for my partner and I although she was also sad after seeing her. Yesterday was a difficult day.dubby wrote:I'm honestly gutted for you reppy. Give Frank plenty of cuddles

I've been there just over 3 years. Got asked to come to a meeting this afternoon and told it was taking immediate effect. Get the 4 weeks notice paid out too.Dibbers wrote:How long you been at your job?rolhai wrote:Ruined: Got made redundant today

Ah fair enough, i've always had 8 weeks notice... thought that was the law but it might be different depending on sector/state etc.rolhai wrote:I've been there just over 3 years. haha. Frank, Violet and Jet were named by the shelters they were adopted from and the names suited so we kept them. Yuki was originally called Blanche, and we were having none of that!Dibbers wrote:Not possible I'm afraid.reptar wrote:Work from home?

Re: What has made/ruined your day
Just participated in my first ever charity cricket tournament. Didn’t do too badly. It was 7 overs, 8 players a team.
Batting in the first game was bad. 3 before I got caught. Made up for it in bowling with a sweet 2/0
Rested in the 2nd game, but the third game I hit 13 off the bat, 1 boundary. Got hit all over the place with my bowling. Was still chuffed considering that team was made up of some semi-pro and BBL players.
All up, 2 wins, 1 loss and knocked out of the finals. Not too shabby for my first game.
