You should have raised the drawbridge and relied on the moat. If you had done that you'd be posting in the middle of a siege as we speak.

Drinking...

Post by Albi »

I don't care what anyone says, VB, is a tasty beer.
One of my old school friends who is now some big wig eastern suburb of Sydney dwelling toff, came to visit last year and I served him a glass of VB and told him it was a European beer - I actually just made up some Bull name. Of course believing it was a boutique beer he loved it... What a pretentious ponce

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

I tried some recently. I used to think it was awful. It wasn't as bad as I remember. I wouldn't buy it though.

I do that regularly to a beer snob mate of mine. My shout I'll get him a schooner of what he reckons he hates (VB being one) and he always happily drinks it.

Had a cracking red on Saturday night with a friend over a roast meal.
Coonawarra Cab Sav 2010. Really good drop.
Also revisited the Jameson bottle I started on NYE, and really enjoyed it this time.

I'm a fan of VB.. It's one of my favourites..

For anyone that is after a beer that's cheap but NOT nasty.. The Aldi Blonde.. It goes for 30 a carton and is actually nicer than any of the blondes on the market valued at a higher price point..

I've put a few onto it and its never had a bad report yet..
Avatar Bet - bleedgreen99 - Raiders to make (BG99)/miss(Lucy) the 8. Avatar from last round of regular season 2015 until GF 2016.
Signature Bet - Raider85 - Raiders to get(Lucy)/miss(R85) the wooden spoon. Signature for entire offseason.
Bottle of something to the value of $70 - Matthew Borewood to not see (Lucy)/to see (Piggles) a first grade game in 2015 for the Warriors.
The Name Change Bet - Regarding the three bets above;
I win all three I keep my name.
I win one I become "the Punish"
I lose all I become "Chicken Little"

And for the non-pretentious wine drinkers Aldi also do a decent semi Shiraz for $2.50 a bottle.. I was introduced on Xmas day by a mate who's a cheap **** and I was quite impressed.. But you obviously get what you pay for, but once out of the bottle nobody would think it to be as cheap as it is.

Queenslanders in all their intense wisdom deem it ok to have a grog shop every 100 metres, but don't allow alcohol sales from grocery store locations for fear it will encourage problem drinking
Because of this place being in the Stone Age, we've been robbed of the luxury of Aldi grog :(
