Feels like this thread has become a soliloquy - hope there is still interest in these.

Cheers mate. Glad to know at least someone still enjoys them! Did you like the Tassie ones? I was happy with how they turned out
While I do this for the love of it, I need to figure out a way to make the hobby self funding to some extent - hope to figure out a way to sell a few as i've been spending too much on it lately!

Cradle Mountain night fall one is beautiful, think I will have to make that one my screen saver at work.
btw what time was the ticket to anywhere and bays of fire taken? Seemed to capture the skyline at a great time. Did you have to sit around for ages to get the perfect shot?

Re: Azza's Photo Thread
I reckon you're having a lend. These photos are to good.
Re: Azza's Photo Thread
Not at all mate.
Schifty, generally speaking dawn and dusk are the best times for landscape photographers, as the light is harsh and ugly during the day. That said, there are always exceptions, e.g. that last Cradle Mountain shot. Ticket to anywhere taken at sunrise (and it's luck of the draw whether you get good colours - thankfully we did on that day and that boat shed has great visual character with the rusted over iron roof so made the perfect shot with the lake, mountains and grass in the foreground). Bay of Fires was actually a stitch of 7 shots so quite technically challenging for me, was surprised I pulled it off! Taken at sunset.
I just need to figure out where I can find a bunch of rich people with too much money on their hands to flog a few so I can buy some more photo gear. PS anyone got Steve's number?

Here are a few of my snaps from Bora Bora, should point out I know next to nothing about Photography except 'ohh that looks good I'm taking a photo"

I am gradually adding photos over the next few days.

Azza's Photo Thread
Is that a Shiraz, Schifty??
Re: Azza's Photo Thread
I'm surprised how decent some of them turned out considering I was only using a fairly basic digital camera. Think it was 16 mega pixels, no idea what that means in terms of the scale these days.
Was a very nice drop though.
btw managing to get the boat in the wine glass was a complete accident that I didn't notice until I looked at the photos a few days later
Not sure as I never read the label of itThe Nickman wrote:Is that a Shiraz, Schifty??

Well, at least Jack got paid.
Re: Azza's Photo Thread
It really is paradise, this was the view at my hotel on the first night there. Was just under $150 a night so was surprised I got something like this.
I actually thought about what the fine would be if I overstayed my intended period there.
Thought I could have worked illegally replacing bamboo roofs at the St. Regis for $4 a hour, if they caught me then I probably would have just got deported right.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Re: Azza's Photo Thread
In the newly-egalitarian spirit of this thread, here are a three of my favourite photos from my travels. These are rubbish compared to Azza's, and were taken with a relatively cheap point-and-shoot camera, so I'd prefer to say these images speak for the amazing scenery as opposed to my photographic 'talents'.

Re: Azza's Photo Thread
Glad to see some other folk posting their shots up - some nice work by one and all. Nice ones there of South America mate, one of the first places I travelled when I graduated and was absolutely gobsmacked by the scenery. Here's one I took with an old point and shoot of Iguazu:

I have been out shooting a bit recently but not been happy with any of my shots, stay tuned and I'll put what I have up when I can. In the meantime, keep posting your stuff, cool to look at!!

Cheers - that was taken at Port Stephens , NSW. 4 minute exposure. A couple more to come.
Re: Azza's Photo Thread
I love this thread. Azza, those are some great shots.
Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Photo of Vin Diesel's house from Fast and the Furious and Fast and Furious. I really made the shot mine IMHO.

again, dont really comment much but keep them coming Azza, love your work
Ed... the house of Vin Diesel in the Fast and the Furious?
why would you even bother, unless it was to piss on the site as a symbolic gesture of your contempt for that film franchise

Haha my mate is diehard F&F. Plus the guys that went on the trip were all 17-18 when it came out, and we live in a city that tried so hard to match that scene it so it was a laugh.Nick wrote:again, dont really comment much but keep them coming Azza, love your work

I will agree 2, 3 and 5 are crimes against celluloid though.

BTW, if any of you ever get the chance to spend a few days to unwind on Phillip Island, I highly recommend it ... cracking spot.
