60th min TRY MOUNTIES to Matt Dooley. That’s definitely the end of this match. Converted Aaron Schoupp.

Re: 2021 NSW Cup
This game is the biggest argument against having supposed huge squad depth I've seen so far.
Keep the money in the first grade team thanks - we don't need the whole squad to be stacked. If you're aiming to win a reserve grade premiership with your talent then you're doing it wrong.

: In a series of changes made public an hour before the match, Ryan Sutton (No.15) will start at prop and Sebastian Kris (No.21) in the second row, after Hudson Young (No.11) and Caleb Aekins (No. 20) were the last two players omitted.

AT A GLANCE:
Last round: The Raiders suffered a 34-10 defeated at the hands of former affiliate, Mounties, in their Round 3 match at Canberra Stadium. The "Raiders Reggies" had a significant number of first grade players at their disposal, particularly in the forwards. The Raiders were disrupted by the late promotion of Tom Starling to first grade, but should have been boosted by the late inclusion of Dunamis Lui and Corey Harawira-Naera. As it turned out, they were outplayed, almost from the opening whistle, by Mounties - now affiliated with the Canterbury Bulldogs.
Mounties scored five tries in the first half and led 28-4 at the break. Both teams scored a try each in the second half, but the visitors were always well in control. The Raiders defence lacked intensity and commitment, while a former Raider, Lachlan Lewis was allowed to call the shots for Mounties. For a team that has been mooted as a favourite for the NSW Cup title, it was a very disappointing performance from Canberra.
Mounties had 58 per cent possession and made 11 line breaks (Raiders just two). Mt Pritchard dominated all the attacking statistics, with the Raiders having to make 100 more tackles than Mounties (348-259). While the Raiders ended the match with a better effective tackle rate (90 per cent, compared with 85 per cent for Mounties) - due to 21 ineffective tackles from the visitors (Raiders 12). But the stat that really mattered was six tries to two.
None of the Raiders forwards broke the 100 metres gained mark. Dunamis Lui (84) and Corey Horsburgh (71) came the closest. Adrian Trevilyan (46) and Darby Medlyn (41) headed the tackle count for the Raiders, while Dunamis Lui and Corey Harawira-Naera each produced 37 tackles. The halves did not produce a try assist or a line break assist.

This week: The Canberra Raiders now face the Newtown Jets on Easter Saturday in Round 4 at Kippax. The Raiders and Jets both have a 1 and 1 record to start the season. Both are well down the ladder - with the Jets in seventh and the Raiders in ninth - but they are among the teams with a game up their sleeve, after Round 2 was mostly washed out. The Jets are coming off a narrow, 22-20 loss to the Parramatta Eels at Western Sydney Stadium. The Eels led 22-0 at the 50 minute mark. The Jets produced a big comeback, piling on four tries in the final 30 minutes of the game. But they fell just short.
Team changes: The Raiders have lost Harley Smith-Shields until Round 20 at the earliest due to a biceps injury. He's replaced at centre by Albert Hopoate. Elijah Anderson comes in on the wing for Semi Valemei, who is on the reserves list for first grade. Brigham Moeakiola makes his NSW Cup debut in the No. 5 jersey. Brad Schneider has been named at half, with Sam Williams also on the reserves list for the Raiders NRL match against the Titans.
Dunamis Lui moves back up into first grade, and is replaced at starting prop by Corey Horsburgh. Harry Rushton is back from a one week suspension in the second row, allowing Darby Medlyn to move to lock. Forward Keaton Walkington-Meads has been added to the bench.

Re: 2021 NSW Cup
Trev got a bit of a wake up call this round. Going to need to get that fitness up. Didn't get some help at times from his first grade forwards being far too flat when it wasn't required.
Mounties spine were way more effective than ours and the team in general didn't play with the right attitude. Just expected to win.

Is the kick off at 12:40 pm or 4:00 pm? I think it might be the latter and the earlier time was last week.

Imagine watching Williams performance last week and thinking he deserves an extended bench spot
Re: 2021 NSW Cup
He might need to learn to call them into line (as well as shrink his margin from reggies standard to FG standard) as a hooker.zim wrote: ↑March 28, 2021, 3:08 pm Trev got a bit of a wake up call this round. I've no doubt he'll improve it. He even had the awareness to hold his pass a couple of times but Lui and Horsburgh also just need to be better for him.

Re: 2021 NSW Cup
I’m surprised Fox have not picked up on NSW and QLD cup and got the rights to market and provide coverage a bit more wide spread then what they are doing now.

Re: 2021 NSW Cup
I guess they’d have enough experience with the production costs and audiences to know whether the broadcasts are commercially worthwhile. I suppose once clubs are no longer in the NRL, they become niche markets. And the standard and costs of Fox League broadcasts is probably pretty high, with multi cameras, commentators etc.
I would have thought they’d at least be able to find a partner who would stream all games not required by the NRL broadcaster. And find a better outlet than Facebook Live, which is the platform used by the NSWRL.
Re: 2021 NSW Cup
Should just pay Pub TV to produce it and then broadcast on Fox
That's basically what they do with domestic cricket these days

Re: 2021 NSW Cup
Let’s be honest last week NSW Cup team were terrible with a stacked team , let’s hope last week is the wake up call needed to turn things around. I think the young boys off the bench will really step up and put some pressure on starting middles eg Thompson/Meads in particular Meads I thought he was outstanding in game 1 of the season 120mtr / 100% tackle stats and post metre yards were outstanding.
