36th min TRY KNIGHTS to hooker Broden Konz under the posts. It’s off the back of an incorrect penalty for a high tackle... it was good, hard defence. Not the best defence Canberra in the middle. Converted Ferguson.

12th min TRY KNIGHTS to hooker Noah Nailagoliva. They ran on the last, shrugging off the Raiders winger Joseph Delle, with the scorer backing up on the inside. Converted Zane Camroux. Delle needed help against the much bigger Knights outside backs.

14 mins to the break TRY RAIDERS to Deakin Bright. That was a stunner! They kicked high on the last, with Knights winger Travis Petersen failing to take the ball. The Raiders regather and a great offload inside sets it up for the centre. Converted Spencer.

41st min TRY KNIGHTS to benchie Tim Johannssen near the posts. Converted Zane Camroux. The try is off the back of a penalty for a ruck infringement from Noah Saddler. The Raiders were caught very short on the right. Not the start to the half the Raiders were wanting, too many errors.

45th min TRY KNIGHTS to winger Travis Petersen in the corner. It followed a knock on from Raiders fullback Jack Sandford... looked like bit of a tough call live. But the referee said he failed to pick up the short kick. No conversion from the sideline. Things unravelling a bit.

AT A GLANCE: The Canberra Raiders Tarsha Gale side suffered a 30-12 defeat at the hands of the Newcastle Knights at Seiffert Oval in Round 5. The Knights led 14-0 at half time and went to a 30-0 lead at the 50th minute, before the Raiders produced two tries in the final 10 minutes. Bench player Carly Heyman crossed in the 53rd minute, while winger Grace Tai scored just before full time.

The Raiders remain in seventh place on the ladder with a 1 and 4 record so far this season. With three games and a bye remaining, Canberra can still force their way into the top six. But they'll likely need to get a win this Saturday against the eighth placed Parramatta Eels at Seiffert Oval - and follow it up with a win against the sixth placed Dragons in Round 7 in Sydney. The Eels got their first win of the season last week, when they beat the Bulldogs 26-20 at Kirkham Oval, Camden. Parramatta has won three of the four clashes against Canberra in this grade - but the Raiders won the last encounter, 30-8, in Round 1 last year at Kippax.

14. Blaize Talagi 15. Joshua Alhazim 16. Movete 'Oto'ota 17. Tyrese Lokeni

18. Mohamed Alameddine

AT A GLANCE: The Canberra Raiders have lost all five matches of the season in Harold Matthews - one of only two teams yet to get a win. Last Saturday, they lost 34-12 to the Newcastle Knights at Seiffert Oval, after trailing 24-6 at the break. The Knights piled on four tries in the first thirty, before Raiders centre Hunter Marsh went over in the corner, right on half time. The Knights went to a 34-6 lead, courtesy of tries to hooker Broden Konz and fullback Elijah Faalua. A consolation try to Raiders lock Owen Nromow in the 50th minute produced the final score line. The loss has left the Raiders in last place on the competition ladder. In Round 6, they host host the fourth placed Eels - a team with a 3 and 1 record so far in 2021. The Eels are coming off a 22-14 win over the Western Suburbs Magpies at Camden. Parramatta has won all three of their recent matches against Canberra in this grade. The Eels won 14-4 at Kippax in Round 1 last year.

AT A GLANCE: The Canberra Raiders SG Ball team remain on top of the SG Ball ladder, after opening the season with five wins in a row. The Raiders produced another win in a very high scoring match last Saturday - defeating the Newcastle Knights 52-32. Canberra scored nine tries, but conceded six - on a hot day which likely affected the defence of both teams.

The Knights had the Raiders rocking at times during the game, with the visitors going to a 12-6 lead after 12 minutes - before the Raiders reasserted control. The Knights also staged a second half charge, scoring the opening two tries of that half, taking a 26-24 lead in the 45th minute. The Raiders went on to score five second half tries, but it was no easy contest for the Green Machine. It is not often I'd say that a winger was the man of the match, but Canberra's Michael Asomua took those honours in my eyes. He scored a hat trick and made a lot of powerful runs. Deakin Bright and Josh Billing also scored doubles. Hooker Toby Thorburn and forwards Caleb Esera, Clay Webb, Noah Saddler and Mitchell Prest also all impressed.

The Raiders are the only team with a perfect 5-0 record. In Round 6, they meet the sixth placed Parramatta Eels at Seiffert. The Knights have two wins and a draw to their name in 2021 - and are coming off a 32-18 win over the Western Suburbs Magpies at Camden last Saturday. The Raiders have won two of the past four matches between the clubs in this grade - including a 30-16 victory in Round 1 last year.

Ash Barnes will be very disappointed by that performance on Saturday. Whilst we scored 50 which was great, it has been reported that we have a real focus on defence and then to concede 32 points was pretty ordinary. There were some very soft tries.

Particularly if at some stage we can get Mooney and Savage back, we are definitely the team to beat.

Yes. This might sound harsh, but at this level, players sacked for disciplinary reasons shouldn't be turning out for other clubs this quickly. It should be back to community football.

Junior Rep Round 6 Preview

Tarsha Gale Cup coach John Hawke says concentration will be key to their success against the Eels on Saturday.

"We have to win every game. I go in confident every game that we play in, if we maintain our concentration and communicate better, I think the result will take care of itself. We’ve got to improve on our concentration levels and then from there, the result will take care of itself."
