Glad to see there's a thread on this. Noel was an absolute gentleman, who has had a profound impact on the game in our region. Whenever we talked, you could see the passion he had for rugby league. While you could question some of the decisions he made as CRRL chairman, you could never question his motives. Everything he did was for the betterment of the game, and our region will be poorer for his loss.

Vale Noel Bissett: Canberra rugby league loses one of its greatest servants

NRL match officials to honour Canberra referee and rugby league identity Noel Bissett

Considered the best referee of all time, Bill Harrigan got emotional talking about the match officials honouring Noel Bissett by wearing black armbands in the NRL's return.

"I think it's brilliant [they're wearing black armbands]. Thoroughly deserved and absolutely brilliant. I don't think you can talk about people in any higher regard ... would do anything for you.
