26th min TRY JETS to Sione Katoa right in the corner. Defence is not at a premium in this game. No conversion for Trindall from the sideline. Looked to be a no try on the replay.

Hingano and Ohagan are woeful in defence! Williams gone. Groin completely smashed by the look of it. This is embarrassing in particular since our 20’s have been outstanding all game. Maybe we should have bought a few more up but no.......mounties call the shots. The 12,7,1 for Newtown killing us. Murchie trying very hard.

MATCH REPORT: Canberra Raiders affiliate Mounties knocked out of NSW Cup finals

A massive second half from the Newtown Jets has booked them a place in the second week of finals with a 44-20 victory over Mounties.

Reuben Rennie was explosive on the left for the Jets and posed a constant threat, while the speed and agility of Braydon Trindall and Will Kennedy proved to much for Mounties at the back-end of the game.

Wow a game of 2 halves! I think yesterday backs a previous post around us needing our own reserve grade. To see Smith Sheilds and Timoko really make a mark on the game was terrific and proves that early transition between 20’s and NSW cup is required more often. Murchie tried very hard. Williams looked like an ex first grader who should be playing bush footy in a captain coach role. He looked very broken and was screaming at the trainers to get him off at one point. Hingano’s broken play style of footy is electric but his defence is woeful! I think Ohagan should be looking for a new gig after yesterday. Newtown just upped the tempo in the second half, won the middle and then shifted it wide. Devastating on the edges.
After watching the 20’s game there are several of those guys who should have had an opportunity throughout the year to step up. Medlyn, Patterson, Robertson, Odonell, Vilemi, Westcott should have been consistently challenged in Cup. One difference between the two grades yesterday was how often the 20’s turn up for each other in defence, in particular on their own line. Desperation and positivity! I thought that was lacking in the Mounties game. Effort and attitude in defence. Murchie was the exception. Whilst disappointing for Mounties if the Raiders are fair dinkum about retaining players they need to clean out mounties and retain some of the quality 20’s through this channel. Just my opinion and dont claim to be an expert! Regardless a great day of footy, all 4 games. I was in the sun down the club end but when the shade came over i felt like I was at GIO on a Friday night!

Thanks for your updates on the lower grades all year Ronny P (and GE as always). It helps when you can't get to games yourself.

Dont Newtown dig in! They have a great supporter base as well. Tim Manna and his men will need to be at there best. Should be a cracker.

Wests Tigers on the brink of losing Campbelltown’s biggest local club and almost 500 juniors to rival district

The Macarthur region’s largest club, East Campbelltown Eagles, are on the verge of taking the incredible step of walking away from their relationship with Wests Tigers and the Western Suburbs local district and start sending their best young talent to the powerful Mounties organisation. Mounties is the feeder club to the Canberra Raiders.

Will wait to see how many make the HM and SG Ball sides for 2020. There was 3 from that region in the HM this year.

2019 Season Review | Mounties

Having staked their claim as early title favourites with an outstanding first half of the season, some poor results to finish the year saw Mounties bow out of the finals in a week one loss to the Wentworthville Magpies.

Mounties were tough to contain for opposition defences from the opening whistle of 2019 - losing just one of their first nine matches with an average of 32.8 points per game, but ending the season at 6th position and missing the top-four would prove decisive in a short-lived finals campaign.
