Yeah can't see him in the long term plans. He'd have to really put on some size and improve his commitment.
Young was playing well.

Shark Park
Saturday, 23 March - 12.45pm

The Jets welcome back Kyle Flanagan at halfback in a huge boost for the side after an opening round loss to the Knights. Expect them to thrive in-front of their home crowd at Henson Park.

The Mounties can take confidence from their 28-all draw against the Dragons after trailing early in the first-half with back-rower Hudson Young coming off a strong performance after crossing for two tries and working tirelessly in defence. Soward says: Mounties by 4.

10th min TRY MOUNTIES to Luke Bateman. Sam Williams puts up a very high bomb, and Brad Abbey chases and bats it back to Bateman for the try. Williams converts.

If Hudson-Young keeps this up for 80 minutes, he might earn himself a slot straight into the starting side.

Bateman also doing his best to get himself onto the bench.

14th min TRY MOUNTIES to Luke Bateman. Takes a simple flat pass and goes over next to the posts. He's now got a double. Sam Williams converts.

By the way, if you haven't seen the images of Mounties training last night... check out some of the player Instagram Stories! Aubrey Keech Reserve was a lake.

24th min TRY JETS to winger Matt Evans, Simonsson left to cover two players and it was just a little bit too easy. First time the Jets have an opportunity, they score. Kyle Flanagan converts from out wide.

24th min TRY MOUNTIES to Tony Satini! Sam Williams puts up the kick, the Jets winger Lumelume can't wrap up the ball, and it fall perfectly for Satini and momentum takes him over the line. No conversion from Sam Williams. Emre Guler is now on, after being pushed back to the bench by the inclusion of Murchie.

Collins and Hudson-Young my pick of the forwards. Guler had some strong carries but he needs a big second half.

Some nice kicking from Williams.

Looking for a big second half from our forwards with a FG spot up for grabs.

Mounties kick off to start the second half... and it starts with an error from the Jets! The set ends with a nice kick from Sam Williams, forcing a line drop out.

Beautiful try. Hudson Young looks good to replace Tapine. Bateman also looking worthy of a slot on the bench if Stick decides to shift J Bateman to the edge.

52nd min TRY JETS to Bronson Xerri. William Kennedy picks up a Sam Williams kick on the Jets' goal line, makes a huge run, and it sets it up for the Xerri try. Xerri tackled, but not held and he gets up and goes again to score. No conversion Kyle Flanagan. That's totally against the run of play.

66th min TRY JETS to Siosifa Talakai, after the Mounties defence allowed Bronson Xerri on the last tackler to run right across field until he found a runner. Kyle Flanagan converts. This is a danger period for Mounties. They flagged in the final stages in their final trial and in Round 1.

MATCH REPORT: Mounties too strong from start to finish for Newtown Jets

Hopes were high for the Jets to record their first win of the season as James Segeyaro and Kyle Flanagan lined up for the foundation club, but the Mounties were too strong from start to finish as they earned their first victory of the year. Mounties co-captain Luke Bateman, with 70 NRL games under his belt, charged his way to the try-line for the first of the day as his side crossed for five more in a relentless 32-16 victory.
