Mikaele Ravalawa heading to the Dragons?

Post by Nadruku »

Raiders under 20’s player of the year. Scored 5 games for Mounties in the NSW I trust super Cup a month back. Then played in the Gunghalin Bulls in the Canberra Comp. last week scored 2 tries for Mounties in the Ron Massey Cup. Now no where. Does anyone know what’s going on???

Not sure. He was in the top Mounties side then in the Fiji squad then down the pecking order.

Coming back to play in the lower squad seems like he's having a few EDIT burnout issues or missed a training session rather than something more sinister. You'd think if he was EDIT off the field he wouldn't be playing at all immediately.

That explains his mysterious dropping, it's disappointing that he made the decision after we invested a lot of time in him. The irony is with all the injuries Ravalawa may have got a run in first grade if he didn't decide to leave.

The Dragons seem to have a thing for our developed wingers, they had Ottio all but signed twice as well

on reflection I'm ok with it, we have 3 quality wingers, Seb Kris looks ok probably takes that 2nd backup spot in 2019.
I'd say my disappointment comes from mulholland starting a Pacific raid 3yrs ago yielding nothing initially and I can't see we've followed it through. Maybe if behind Ravalawa we had the 2 next 18 or 19yo pacific kids following the process? Maybe we do but it's just not obvious

There are two Fiji kids who have come across from our academy playing in Flegg I think.

I'd agree it's a disappointing start to his strategy though.

Valemi is playing Mounties, one of the Fiji recruits. Looks good.

Doesn't really explain why he was dropped. Not when Paulo has been named to start again this week despite only putting in 3 or 4 satisfactory performances all season amid his move back to the Eels.

I'm not saying whether it's right or not but it's still the only likely explanation. I'd be amazed if they aren't linked.

Paulo is a first team player, Ravalawa is a development project

Whilst he’s Fijian I Don’t think Ravalawa was signed by a raiders Pacific raid as such, he was signed after being spotted playing union for burnside high in Christchurch

picked him up same time as roache and tameifuna, then dakuwaqa and some Fijian schoolboys.
Mulholland had done an nz/Fiji trip and recruited a few.
