52nd min TRY BULLDOGS to Frank Kuresa, converted by the half Brandon Wakeham from the sideline. It’s off the back of a dubious call at the other end of the field... should have been a line drop out and the referee awarded a seven tackle set to the Dogs.

MATCH REPORT: Bulldogs bounce back in Belmore win over Mounties

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have bounced back into the winners' circle with a 28-10 victory over Mounties in Round 10 of the Intrust Super Premiership NSW.

The Belmore Sportsground match saw a flurry of points for the home side, which registered six tries in the win, including a double to winger Josh Bergamin. Five-eighth Josh Cleeland and fullback Mason Cerruto were also instrumental in the Bulldogs' eighth win of season 2018, although they will have to deal with the sudden departure of regular NRL player Marcelo Montoya.

The 3 other boys impressed I thought, young Hala looked like the sort of forward I'd like to be on the bench in nrl next year, good leg speed and added impact hands generally fix themselves with experience

2017 NSW Premiership Round 18: Mounties preview

Image

In Round 18, Mounties play the Western Suburbs Magpies in NSW Premiership and the Wests Tigers in Jersey Flegg at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

NSW Premiership: Mounties suffered their second loss in a row in Round 17, a 28-10 defeat at the hands of the Canterbury Bulldogs at Belmore Sports Ground. The Bulldogs led 14-0 at half time, scoring three tries, and went to a 20-0 lead four minutes into the second half after a try from former Raiders junior, Matt Frawley.

The first points came for Mounties in the 49th minute, when centre Taane Milne crossed in the corner. Royce Hunt produced the only other try for Mt Pritchard in the 65th minute, just barging over the line, the conversion from Milne reducing the deficit to 14 points. However, when the Bulldogs' Jayden Okunbor scored with just under 10 minutes remaining, the result was put beyond doubt.

Mounties were disrupted, with Brendan O'Hagan required for New South Wales Under 20s Origin, and hooker Craig Garvey was forced into the halves. However, Mounties looked flat and their defence was often found wanting. Mounties had just a 43 per cent possession share, conceded 12 penalties and six line breaks, and produced 52 ineffective or missed tackles. Craig Garvey (38), Jack Murchie (37) and Makahesi Makatoa (36) topped the tackle count for Mounties, while Taane Milne (137m), Makahesi Makatoa (115m) and Omar Slaimankhel (106m) produced most metres with the ball in hand.

Mounties are placed second on the competition table, but are now three competition points adrift of the ladder leading Penrith Panthers. Their opponents this weekend, the Magpies, are placed third, but are equal with Mounties on 22 competition points. Both teams have a 9 and 6 record so far this season. The Magpies have a WLWWL record in their past five matches, losing to the Dragons, 22-18, in their last match. Their other recent loss was by just one point, to the Newtown Jets. They are coming off a bye last weekend. Mounties have a LWWLL form line.

Mounties have an advantage in attack, averaging 27 points scored per match, compared with 22 for the Magpies. However the Magpies have the better defensive record, conceding an average 17 points per match compared with 21 for Mounties. Mounties have a positive points differential of 102, the Magpies +82.

Team changes: For Mounties, Sebastian Kris moves to centre, with Tony Satini shifting wider, to the wing. Sitiveni Moceidreke returns to the team in his regular wing spot, with Taane Milne moving to centre and Omar Slaimankhel dropping out of the squad. Brendan O'Hagan is again named to make his debut in the NSW Premiership team at five eighth - after his late withdrawal last week. Craig Garvey returns to his regular dummy half role. Mitch Cahalane replaces Charlie Gubb at starting prop, while Emre Guler and Corey Horsburgh will be backing up from Under 20s Origin off the bench

For the Magpies, Tui Lolohea replaces Dylan Smith at fullback, while Malaki Watene Zelezniak comes in at wing in place of Harrison O'Toole. Chris McQueen is named in the second row, replacing Sam McIntyre, while Robbie Rochow takes over from Bayley Sironen at lock. O'Toole and Sironen drop to the bench, while McIntyre is named on the reserves list.

Our tip: Mounties need to win this clash if they're to hold onto second place on the ladder. The Mounties line up looks to be stronger than the last couple of weeks, but the Magpies are probably in better recent form and have the home ground advantage. Sadly, we'll have to go with the Magpies in a close one.

Jersey Flegg: Mounties produced a very good 32-10 win over the Canterbury Bulldogs at Belmore, with former Orange CYMS, Bears and Panthers junior, Toby Westcott impressing in his Mounties debut. The victory sees Mounties retain fourth place on the ladder, with a 9 and 5 record so far this season. Their opposition this week, the Wests Tigers, are placed 12th, at the foot of the competition table. The Tigers have won just twice, whilst losing 12 matches. They started the season with an 11 game losing streak, recording their first win in Round 14 against the Sea Eagles. They backed that up with a win over the North Sydney Bears in Round 15, before suffering a 44-6 loss to the Sea Eages in their last outing. Mounties have a LWWWW form line in their past five games.

Mounties have a clearly better attacking and defensive record. Mounties have averaged 23 points scored per match, compared with just 13 for the Tigers. Mounties concede an average of 21 points per match, while the Wests Tigers concede 27. Mounties have a small positive points differential (+30); the Tigers have the worst points differential in the league (-195).

Mounties have named the same team that took the field against the Canterbury Bulldogs, with late inclusions Mathew Lyons and Toby Westcott retaining their positions at centre and half back. For the Wests Tigers, Pulonga Kavaefiafi and Peter Pakoti come in at right wing and centre, replacing James Tautaiolefua and Connelly Lemuelu. Connelly Lemuelu is named at five eighth in place of Gus Garzaniti, while Jake Scott takes over at hooker from Bennett Wheelhouse. Alexander Seyfarth moves from lock to the second row, replacing Kane McQuiggin. Kiani Marshall takes the No. 13 jersey.

While the Wests Tigers are on the improve, it is difficult to see anything other than a Mounties win in this one.

Welcome to our coverage of today’s clash between Mounties and the Western Suburbs Magpies. This match is broadcast live on Nine in ACT/NSW. Jordan Martin called up for Sitiveni Moceidreke, looks like Jack Murchie might be Raiders 18th man. Here are the final team line ups:
