6. John
7. Crocker
8. Preist
9. Clydesdale

Presuming Jordan Turner plays 14 in first grade while the Baptiste is injured. It looks like slim

Re: 2017 Mounties
Yeah that's pretty close. They should be in the top 4 again. It won't be as dominant as last year but they have depth. All those depth players have played a lot of ISP NSW Cup and finals games over the last few years.
This is probably their full strength line up with the next best replacements listed:
1. Zac Santo
2. Eddie Aiono
3. Nic Cotric
4. Jordan Turner
5. Kato Ottio
6. Isaac John
7. Lachlan Croker
8. Dunamis Lui
9. Adam Clydsdale
10. Clay Priest
11. Brett Naden
12. Scott Sorensen
13. Shaun Fensom
14. Glen Buttris
15. Daniel Dole
16. Jeff Lima
17. Willie Mataka
Backs:
Alofi Mataele
Sam Aiga
Sonny Bristow
Utility / Playmaker:
Maurice Kennedy
Sam Duggan (been a long time since he was not in their NSW cup first 17)
Forwards:
Jacob Mayer
Royce Hunt
Mitch Kennedy
The makeup of the side all depends on what Stuart wants to have as backup though. If he wanted Turner as a play maker he'd be at 6 and John would be moved somewhere else. Same with Dole. He might decide that like Bateman, the best way to get him learning is to start him in the forwards.

Re: 2017 Mounties
- Kurt Baptiste is gone meaning either Clydsdale, Croker or Turner will end up the bench utility in our full strength first grade side. So to me, plus the fact we've brought him the whole way out from England means Jordan Turner, if not in first grade, would be handed the opportunity of being a playmaker for Mounties IMO.zim wrote:Yeah that's pretty close. - From what I've seen Naden is nowhere near being a forward, he'll play centre or maybe wing until Ottio is fit.
- Makahesi Makatoa has also been signed by Canberra on second tier IIRC, so he's not missing out for Mounties. That'd mean Mataka/Dole miss out.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Re: 2017 Mounties
@BrisbaneRaider
Ah yes I forgot about him. I have him on my list but for some reason didn't make it into the post in the reserves. I think he scrapes into the side given the shuffle that will happen when Turner goes into first grade. Probably on the bench.
@julian87
1) Yeah there will be some shuffling. As I said what I think will be the full strength side is what I listed.
2) Naden is a uitility in a similar way to Turner. He plays any of 5/8, 2nd row or centre and played each at different times in 2016. He was fine at second row when he was needed, but he will more than likely play centre with the reshuffle from Turner moving to 1sts.
3) Ah yes forgot about him. The mounties side is a bit unbalanced. Too small in the forwards. So if you were going for the best side you might pick Mataka as he provides that huge battering ram but to really get a gauge on how Dole is going I think he needs to be there somewhere... so Dole gets the nod from me.

I don't post facts
Re: 2017 Mounties
From the coach's comments this morning/last night it looks like players who he thinks are ready to go in Rd 1 won't play in Saturday's trial. So I suspect there'll be room for fringe forwards to get a good run at Seiffert.julian87 wrote:Surprised all of our fringe forwards didn't play.

Re: 2017 Mounties
Mounties and Jets draw 12-12
Last Saturday’s heatwave failed to prevent the Newtown Jets staging a successful trial match at Henson Park against the Canberra Raiders partnership club, Mounties. Fortunately for both teams the kick-off time was put back to 7.00pm and the weather started to cool down after about 15 minutes. Mounties led 12-4 at half-time and the match ended in a 12-all draw.
Newtown used 24 players in the match and Mounties 29. The Jets fielded just seven players with recent Intrust Super Premiership (ISP) experience, whereas Mounties had many more in their squad with extensive !SP game time. Mounties fielded an interesting identity in the former Australian and Queensland State of Origin representative David “The Coal Train” Taylor, who is trialling for a contract with the Canberra Raiders.
Mounties 12: Yileen Gordon, Royce Hunt tries; Dylan Izzard 2 goals Drew Newtown 12: Leigh Higgins, Tyla Tamou, Haydn Peacock tries.
