Where do I know that name from?
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Mounties rugby league club boasts seven pairs of brothers including two sets of twins

Brotherly love is working wonders for high-flying Mounties rugby league club, a rarity in world sport that boasts seven pairs of brothers, including two sets of twins.

They also won the Ron Massey Cup development level competition, and made the final of the lower grade Sydney Shield. “It’s hard to beat a year like that but we’ve got high expectations,” said Mounties football manager Steve Litvensky.

“We want to win the Ron Massey again and go one step further in the other grades.”

NSW Cup Knights beaten by Mounties

The Newcastle Knights NSW Cup side lost 12-4 in a trial match against Mounties at Cabramatta on Sunday evening.

The Knights were first over the line in the eighth minute when Ken Tofilau finished off a play from the scrum ten metres out.

Twenty minutes later winger Blake Ritchie scored for Mounties and it wasn’t until the 76th minute that the next try was posted, second-rower Steve Tavita punching his way through the line to give his side a 12-4 win.

2016 Mounties season preview: Back to the top?

Finishing as last season’s NSW Cup minor premiers, Mounties’ finals campaign came to a bitter end after falling at the final hurdle in the preliminary final.

Our prediction: With such a different-looking team to the one that powered through last season, it’s hard to predict a similar finish in 2016. Losing both halves hurts any side let alone one that came within one match of the grand final. However, like last season, nobody gave Mounties much hope before they established themselves as major contenders. With Antonelli at the helm, finals are definitely not out of the question but a good start and gelling early is vital for their prospects.

NSWRL unveils Intrust Super Premiership

NSW Rugby League CEO David Trodden today launched the 2016 season with the announcement of Intrust Super as the major new naming rights sponsor of the state's premier competition for the next three years.

The competition, formerly the NSW Cup, will now be known as the "Intrust Super Premiership NSW" from the 2016 season kick-off this Saturday (5 March) until the end of 2018.

Intrust Super CEO Brendan O'Farrell joined Trodden to announce the exciting new partnership at the 2016 season launch at Mounties, in Sydney's south-west, which was attended by club and NRL representatives including NRL Head of Football Todd Greenberg and NSW VB Blues Coach Laurie Daley.

"It's fantastic to partner with NSWRL as the naming rights sponsor of their premier state-based Rugby League competition, now to be known as the Intrust Super Premiership NSW," O'Farrell said.

"We look forward to being part of an ever-improving competition and seeing it continue to develop into a world-class competition that truly provides opportunities and a clear pathway for players into the NRL."

With record revenue growth reported in the key areas of sponsorship in 2016, NSWRL CEO Trodden is excited about the latest partnership and says the strong financial performance is a reflection of the continued development of the NSWRL commercial program.

"We are proud to partner with Intrust Super and we are looking forward to the next three years working with one of Australia's leading industry super funds," Trodden said.

With the start to the new season just days away the NSWRL also used today's launch to highlight a game-wide initiative to eliminate offensive behaviour on and off the Rugby League field.

Captains and coaches across all competitions are now required to sign a ‘Respect' pledge to act in a manner that displays the core values of the game - excellence, inclusiveness, courage, teamwork and respect.

The pledge, delivered at the launch by Rugby League Players Association (RLPA) President Clint Newton alongside player representatives from the 12 Intrust Super Premiership NSW teams and the defending Sydney Shield and Ron Massey Cup sides, aims to ensure players, coaches, officials and spectators preserve a strong relationship.

Mounties and Penrith will kick off the 2016 Intrust Super Premiership NSW season on Saturday at GIO Stadium at 12.40pm.

Frankly, I'm going to continue to call it NSW Cup. These incredibly convoluted names with the aim of putting the sponsor's name in, deserve derision.

Cool that this is the Fox game.

It should be a good match. We have plenty of quality but with Martin in the halves Penrith will be tough to beat.

Same. As far as I'm concerned, if all the teams are from NSW, then I'll refer to it as NSW Cup (NZ doesnt count - that's just south of the Big Merino isnt it?)

You can call the second tier comp what you like down there, it still won't be better than the Q cup which is stronger and we get way more supporters to the games. I have attended games of NSW cup and counting the ball boys there was lucky to be twenty people there, in 2014 I went to Wynnum v PNG game there was just short of 5 thousand people attended and the atmosphere was just terrific, I can't ever see that happening in the NSW CUP.!!!
