29 to go Mark down this name... Prop Tevita Fehoko. Wrecking ball. Just left a WSAS player on the ground in his wake, running through players.

SG Ball and Harold Matthews round one results

Canberra Raiders SG Ball coach Dean Souter was pleased with his side's big Round 1 win on Saturday.

"We started slowly on the weekend and ended up 12 nil behind in the first 15 minutes. This obviously wasn’t the start we wanted but the team re-grouped and got down to business. The team led at the break 18-12 in a gritty display to get the game back under their control," Souter said.

"The second half demonstrated what the boys can accomplish when they stay on point and players do their job. Each individual knowing what their role is on field is key to the team making progress and getting good outcomes.

I'm going to give a few tips for players to watch:

Jacob Church: scored three tries in Round 1. Obvious. ****
Louis Jang: Off the bench, he tried hard.

Jedidiah Simbiken: He's been a talented player to watch for a while.
Sebastian Kris: If this bloke ends up at the Broncos I'm going to be upset. ****
Tevita Fehoko: He left an opposition player on the ground just running through in attack last weekend. We have a new Tevita coming through the ranks to believe in. ****
Sato Ketia Opo: He was a pretty smart five eighth, used some tricks, like using the goal posts to score two tries.
Sam Finnegan: Smart hooker.

**** Absolute stand outs.

I thought that was the forum software censoring you!
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Round 2: Junior Reps Preview

The Canberra Raiders Junior representative teams will play on either sides of the country this weekend, when they take to the field for round two action in the Harold Matthews Cup and SG Ball Cup competitions.

The Raiders Harold Matthews Cup team (Under 16’s) are coming off a 12-12 draw against the Western Sydney Academy and will face the South Western Sydney Academy of Sport this weekend in a bid to register their first win of the season at Kirkham Oval in Sydney.

“This week we have really been focusing on our own performances. Our defence effort last week against WSAS was excellent. But our error rate was not good,” Harold Matthews coach Adam Kyle said. “We know SWAS will be ready to play this Saturday and if we don’t respect the ball and the opponent it will be a tough game for us.

Nice highlights of the tries from Church in HM. Stocky centre.

Not sure how anyone could have stopped that 'brute' from WSAS though...

SG Ball and Harold Matthews round two results

Harold Matthews notched their first win of the year, after being held to a 12 all draw last weekend.

"We went into this match really confident after our round one draw, and knew that if we fixed our errors we would be a lot more competitive. We worked really hard last week on playing what’s in front of us and staying composed. This reflected really well in the game against SWAS as our error count was really low," coach Adam Kyle said.

"More than the points we scored I was really happy to walk away without conceding any points. Our defence at stages of the game was excellent we kept pushing hard for each other to make sure we kept SWAS scoreless."

Harold Matthews

Canberra 62 (J Church 2, T Chatfield 2, H Smith-Shields 2, J Roberts 2, K Tanesi, T Peters, T Brooke tries; K Jensen 9 goals) def SWSAS 0

SG Ball

Canberra 42 (A Niko 2, S Kris 2, D Spencer, S Ketia-Opo, J Bastick tries; Ketia-Opo 5, S Finnegan 2 goals) def Perth 8 (S Faafua, P Porter tries)

Round 3: Junior Reps Preview

The Canberra Raiders junior representatives teams will both face a tough test this weekend, taking on the Manly Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval.

"Manly are traditionally a very strong team, having made the semi-finals in previous years. Coming off a bye we expect them to be fresh and start the match extremely hard," Harold Matthews coach Adam Kyle said.

"The team have put together a really good week of training. The match fitness they have gained the past two weeks has really helped and I expect them the team to take their game to another level this week."

Have to shut down Lehmann in HM.

Ketia-Opo v Cust in SG Ball. Who ever comes out on top, that side should win.
