NYC Match Preview: Raiders v Knights

The Canberra Raiders will head into this Saturday’s match against the Newcastle Knights with confidence from a hard fought 48-40 victory over the top of table Brisbane Broncos.

A player who has been highly impressive over the last couple of weeks has been Morgan Boyle, the son of David Boyle who played in 117 games for the Green Machine from 1991-97.

“No one is getting too far ahead of themselves, we’ve just been working hard at training and now we’re just waiting for the Knights game to see what we can do against them,” Boyle said.

“They gave us a bit of a touch up in the in the trials, so I’m expecting they’ll be coming out the same way. We just have to beat them physically in the middle and give them nothing.

3rd min It's great to see the sons of former Raiders Simon Woolford (Zac) and David Boyle (Morgan) in the green again today, and they are two very good prospects. Two good sets from Canberra to start the match. Good metres and good kicks for territory.

4th min Raiders ruled to have knocked on Chevi Ellis just can't quite handle the off load from Tevita Pangai Jnr. Knights scrum near their own 40m line.

6th min Knights throw a lot of attack at the Raiders line, but a second kick to the in goal is defused by Canberra, and it is followed up by a penalty to the men in green. They attack on the 40m line, but drop it on the first tackle! Brett Solomon drops it cold.

10th min Raiders penalised for "crowding" in the ruck. Newcastle attack from just 30m out. TRY KNIGHTS to Fuaimamao Uta in the corner, one of the passes in the lead up looked clearly forward. No conversion from the sideline.

15th min Knights get another penalty, this time for a strip, and they go on attack in the red zone again. TRY KNIGHTS to Bryce Donovan. Overlap on the Raiders' right, they slide and Donovan just steps back inside. Brock Lamb gets the conversion.

19th min Tevita Pangai Jnr is tackled out over the sideline, just 10m out from the try line. Referee should have called held as he was lifted off the ground. Lachlan Croker nearly went over on the other side of the field, but was held out through great Knights' defence.

Lewis looks good. Heaps of ability
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

34th min Raiders making a captain's challenge... the referee says it is a knock on. Lachlan Lewis grubbers ahead... It looked for all the world a try on the video, but they deny it, saying Tevita Pangai Jnr knocks on.

39th min TRY KNIGHTS Very lucky try, off a kick rebound. Jake McNamara the scorer. The Raiders will be very unlucky to go in trailing at half time. Brock Lamb converts.
