Did read on Twitter that Lachlan Croker is out for the season with an ACL injury suffered in the Under 18's NSW vs QLD on Wednesday night

NYC Match Preview: Raiders v Tigers

Following a great team performance last week, the Canberra Raiders NYC team will need to improve yet again when they travel to Campbelltown Stadium to take on the Wests Tigers.

The win last week kept the young Raiders in the hunt for a finals spot where they currently sit in 11th spot just one win outside the eight. However if the boys want to prove they are any sort of legitimate finals threat these are the sides that the team will need to beat.

Their opponent the Wests Tigers will come into the game off the back of five consecutive wins which will provide a much more difficult task then last week’s game against the Bulldogs.

Canberra should have no problems matching the Tigers in attack where they have outscored their 5th placed counterparts 399 to 362 for the season. But it is the defence that coach Mick Mantelli will be keen to see the side continue to improve.

Raiders out on the field, they kick off, we are underway in the first half! Good first set from the Wests Tigers, making it over the half way, but the kick on the last is out on the full.

3rd min Canberra Raiders force Wests Tigers into a line drop out, good grubber from Matt Frawley. They get a repeat set. Ricky Garard knocks on at dummy half, however, undoing the good work.

5th min Raiders force the ball loose in a great tackle, but are penalised for being inside the 10m. Gives Wests Tigers a big chance in the Raiders half. The set ends with a forward pass to Wests Tigers winger John Ogden just 5m from the line.

Heffernan to FB is interesting, esp after playing half most of the yr. I wonder if Ricky reads anything on here.
Garard back to 9. Is Garard the new Cronin? Can play 1, 6 and 9.

10th min Wests Tigers play the ball to no one, Hefernan dives on it, but is ruled not to be square. Tough call. Gives the Wests Tigers another shot in the red zone. The Tigers are very difficult to put down in the tackle, they seem more physically developed than the Canberra team, bigger, stronger and more wiry.

TRY WESTS TIGERS to Te Maire Martin. Too easy in the end, off the back two penalties in a row. Matthew Woods converts.

Wests Tigers 6-0

The team was awfully balanced for the first half of the year since there were no genuine halves in the team. Once Croker and Lewis finished SG Ball we suddenly had two good halves so now Heffernan can go back to his best position at fullback.

17th min TRY RAIDERS to Matt Frawley. The Wests Tigers fall for a huge dummy from Frawley and he just goes through the line from 10m out. Scott Doyle converts from out wide.

Nice try

Halfback holding the ball out in both hands causes the defence to hold off

21st min Wests Tigers grubber on the last and Lachlan Lewis is ruled to have knocked on near the line.

TRY WESTS TIGERS, first play off the scrum, to Mason Farrell in the corner. Woods converts. Canberra have the benefit of the wind, and need to be in front at half time.

Wests Tigers 12-6

I can cop the bad defense with this side as it's packed with Ball players and not physically up to it yet. They will be very strong next year IMO.

Bloody good try
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

26th min TRY RAIDERS to winger Lachlan Hurst, good work from Frawley and Kent in the lead up. Scott Doyle misses the goal from the sideline.

30th min Garard goes for a 40/20 but the kick is out on the full. Wests Tigers attack, but they drop it on the first tackle. They are challenging the decision, checking for a strip. They can't call that a strip. DECISION STANDS. Loose carry.

40th min Raiders going for a captain's challenge after the siren. It's no try... Barnett grubbers, and he follows through but cannot ground it. It's placed on the boot of a Wests Tigers player and he kicks it away.

Canberra Raiders 10
