Re: 2013 Holden Cup: Rd 20 V Dragons
60th min TRY RAIDERS to Andrew Heffernan. Dragons on attack 5m out, nearly score themselves, ball goes astray, Heffernan picks is up and he goes the length of the field to score under the posts. Cornish converts from in front.
Raiders 14-12
Raiders 14-12
Re: 2013 Holden Cup: Rd 20 V Dragons
64th min Dragons successfully challenge on a knock on ruling, they get the ball 40m out as a result. And now Ahearn knocks on right on his line. And the Raiders are challenging that. But the original decision stands. Dragons scrum 10m out.

74th min Raiders get a well warranted penalty for a ruck infringement on Pangai. Cornish misses from the sideline.
TRY RAIDERS to Heffernan in the corner, set up by Pangai.
Raiders 18-12
Dragons short kick off, but the Raiders take it. 4 mins to go.

Not Cornish's finest last 20. Made some very uncharacteristic mistakes
Re: 2013 Holden Cup: Rd 20 V Dragons
77th min Cornish error gives the Dragons another chance. Scrum to the Dragons near their own 40m line.
Raiders go the length of the field almost after the siren! And there's a dust up!

Re: 2013 Holden Cup: Rd 20 V Dragons
Good game to watch. We were very undisciplined with the footy but very disciplined without it.
Re: 2013 Holden Cup: Rd 20 V Dragons
A real shame they didnt put a try on there, it was a cracking bit of play, one more pass and i think it would have been a try

Re: 2013 Holden Cup: Rd 20 V Dragons
That would have been try of the season had they scored that.
That #7 from the Drags is a complete toss, giving it to Creith for getting cramp and blowing that last try. The prick was laughing as full time was blown.. hey guess what.. YOU LOST!!

MATCH REPORT: Holden Cup Canberra Raiders hang tough to beat Dragons
Teenage centre Andrew Heffernan earmarked himself as one of the Holden Cup’s most promising prospects after propelling the Raiders to an 18-12 win over St George Illawarra at WIN Stadium. Canberra trailed the Dragons 6-4 at half time and an upset seemed likely, however, an inspired second half by the Junee Diesels junior saw the Raiders storm back into contest and maintain their lead at the top of the Holden Cup ladder. Next week the Raiders take on the Melbourne Storm at Canberra Stadium in what promises to be an exciting contest.

Young Dragons in narrow loss
The St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team were defeated 18-12 in a close encounter against the Canberra Raiders at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Saturday.
The Young Dragons scored twice in the defeat, courtesy of fullback Evander Cummins and centre Hayden Carpenter.
Head Coach Justin Holbrook made four changes to the line-up announced in midweek, including naming a new-look right edge.
Sitiveni Moceideke and DJ Harris replaced Brent Anderson and Yaw Kiti Glymin on the right, while Hayden Carpenter lined up at left centre in lieu of Euan Aitken.
In the only other change, George Lolo took the interchange position vacated by Hame Sele.
The Red-and-Whites had the first opportunity to open the scoring early on, with a spread to the left ending when winger Kayne Brennan was unable to hold onto the ball as he reached out to score.
Fullback Evander Cummins ensured that the hosts opened the scoring in the 15th minute however, evading several Raiders defenders with a series of dummies and sidesteps in a 35-metre dash to the line.
Dragons halfback Jackson Hastings slotted the conversion despite slipping over to extend the lead to 6-nil.
The Raiders replied soon after, with winger Jonathon Reuben diving into the corner in seven minutes later.
Captain Mitchell Cornish was unable to convert from touch, preserving the Dragons’ lead at 6-4.
Both sides had chances to add further four-pointers out wide soon after, but Raiders winger Jack Creith and Brennan were both unable to cross the stripe.
The wingers were again in the thick of the action with just 15 seconds to play before the break, with Dragons flanker Sitiveni Moceideke stealing the ball and supplying Hastings with a ball to dive across.
The try was disallowed however, after Raiders captain Cornish challenged the decision, and the contest was adjudged a ball steal, leaving the halftime score at 6-4.
The Young Dragons wasted little time in extending the lead just after the resumption, with centre Hayden Carpenter making the most of his call-up by scoring out wide on the left.
The Collegians junior accepted a pass from second-rower Sam Coster to score the try, which was converted from touch by Hastings to extend the lead to 12-4.
Not to be outdone, Reuben grabbed his second for the Green Machine, capitalising on an in-and-away and flick pass from centre Andrew Heffernan.
Cornish’s conversion bounced off the post, leaving a margin of 12-8 in favour of the Red-and-Whites in the 53rd minute.
Both sides came inches from gathering kicks to score, with Dragons winger DJ Harris and Raiders fullback Jack Ahearn both spilling the ball with the line beckoning.
Another near call for the Young Dragons ended in a 90-metre try against the run of play for Raiders centre Andrew Heffernan, who swooped on a loose pass from Dragons rake Logan Harris.
Cornish’s conversion from right in front put the visitors in the lead for the first time, at 14-12 going into the final quarter.
Heffernan crossed again with five minutes remaining to seal the win, taking advantage of an offload from interchange forward Tahakilu Pangai, who attracted the attention of four defenders.
Cornish was off target from out wide, making the score 18-12 in favour of the Raiders.
Canberra Raiders 18 defeated St George Illawarra Dragons 12.
