Bateman back for Maroons: Raider to take on Blues
"Canberra Raiders budding hard man Luke Bateman will swap his green machine jersey for a Queensland one this month."
and
School the key to Papalii's debut
"He was plucked from a school oval south of Brisbane, ..."
both from http://quest.newspaperdirect.com/epaper/viewer.aspx - make sure you view p.93 of the 20th June 2013 edition.
These two articles appeared in my local rag on Thursday. The Bateman article discusses his role in the 20s and his junior rep achievements. The Papalii article mainly discusses Mark Tookey and Souths Logan's role in his development.

Re: Pangai and Bateman selected for Under 18 Origin
It was a bit easier when the older one shaved his head. I would have loved to have seen the game. Very unusual for there to be such a big win. It seems to me that 2 out of 3 guys that look like future stars are from north of the Tweed. Why bother having the game and not televise it on Fox or on one of the obscure digital channels?

I wonder if having Brenko Lee out made a difference?waldo1961 wrote:It was a bit easier when the older one shaved his head. I would have loved to have seen the game.
