Hope that's a smokescreen
Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Re: 2013 Holden Cup: Rd 14 V Panthers
They've been pulling the old reverse smokescreen for the last couple of games where they've named Cornish and Lee and then had them pull out on game day. I think they've just named the 17 who played last night so I'm hoping for a couple of changes.T_R wrote: Hope that's a smokescreen

Wow 1-8 are all J first names (plus one other in the side) :p

Re: 2013 Holden Cup: Rd 14 V Panthers
the players usually just do light pool sessions or get the day off following game day, so i doubt they even know where those guys stand, its pretty standard practise to name the same team after the monday night, but i share TR's worry. This is a top of the table clash, a real chance for us to stamp our authority on the competition. We cant win without Cornish and Lee imo.

If you add Cornish and Lee to that team this will be a cracking game of football.

NYC Round 14 Match Preview: Raiders v Panthers
Round 14 of the National Youth Competition will see the two heavyweights of the competition collide when the first placed Canberra Raiders face off against the second placed Penrith Panthers at Canberra Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Penrith have been the only team to defeat the Raiders all year when they thumped Canberra 40-16 in round one at Centrebet Stadium. “Definitely, a lot has changed since then,” said coach Mick Mantelli. “We’ve sorted ourselves out and we’ve grown as a team. We’ll see just how much we’ve grown this weekend. They’re a very good team, well drilled and well coached. We’ve had a few big tests this year but this would be one of the biggest challenges. They defeated us on their home turf in round one but we’re looking to keep our home ground winning record intact.”

Holden Cup preview - Round 14
Raiders V Panthers
Saturday 3.15pm, Canberra Stadium
The unmitigated game of the season will kick off on Saturday afternoon, featuring two teams with just three losses between them.
In fact, Canberra’s only defeat came in Round 1 when they were trounced by their Saturday opponents Penrith – adding an extra layer of meaning to this match, as if it needed it.
The Raiders’ latest effort stretched their undefeated winning streak to 11 and came in the form of a comeback win against the Brisbane Broncos.
Winger Jono Kent scored two late tries to seal the 38-28 win, despite a rare mistake-filled performance from the Raiders.
Canberra missed 46 tackles and made 16 errors in the victory and got by on strength alone – charging through 1330 metres compared to Brisbane’s 1146.
Centre Jeremy Hawkins was in sizzling form, scoring a try and racking up 177 metres, six tackle-breaks and two line-breaks.
Penrith – the only team to topple the Green Machine this year – were far more impressive last week, smashing the Wests Tigers 50-12.
The Panthers’ freakish backline again stole the show in a match that saw the Panthers race to a 22-0 lead at the break and never loosen their grip.
Fullback Kieran Moss was unstoppable in scoring two tries, setting a further two up, running for 171 metres, busting seven tackles and breaking the Wests Tigers’ line three times.
He was more than ably supported by gifted winger Dalin Watene Zelezniak, who also bagged a double as well as racking up 226 metres and 13 tackle-breaks.
The talent on show this Saturday evening will be mesmerising, leant extra spice by the fact the teams are playing off for top spot.
Tip: Panthers by two points.

Love the smokescreen
Reckon we'd need Lee to be confident in this one.
Either Lee, come to think of it.

Re: 2013 Holden Cup: Rd 14 V Panthers
I've got this one in a multi .
I called out Edrick Lee to be a first raider 2 years ago when he was a reserve toyota cup player and was mocked pillar to post on thegh, check the Holden cup threads from 2 years ago onwards for my calls. I'm calling out Brad Smith to be the next first grader, don't think he's playing today, mago looks special too.
By the way, Matt McIlwrick was nothing special in Toyota Cup just as he is in first grade, I can't believe the ground swell of support he got this year based on his performance in fitness tests before the season started, even now people rate him.
