Stats don’t lie, Tevita Pangai’s the real deal
Canberra Raiders Holden Cup player Tevita Pangai’s statistics from last weekend's game against Manly are simply phenomenal. In 80 minutes of outstanding rugby league, Pangai registered 4 try assists, 17 hit-ups for 196 metres, two line-breaks, one line-break assist, six tackle breaks, two offloads and 22 tackles. “He’s certainly a talent and we’re glad to have him down here,” said Raiders recruitment manager David Hamilton. “He’s coming along nicely. He had a great game on the weekend and his statistics proved that. He’s got explosive leg speed, a great offload and he’s work ethic is outstanding. That’s the thing, people see his statistics and are in awe but what the statistics don’t show is the hard work that he puts in away from the field and the type of character he has.”

Is he originally from Newcastle?
Re: Stats don’t lie, Tevita Pangai’s the real deal
The Pangai's from Newcastle, as I understand it.
Re: Stats don’t lie, Tevita Pangai’s the real deal
Both Pangai's are beasts, but Tevita is easily one of the top five players in the Holden Cup. Great fun to watch.

Could show more urgency.
Avatar Bet - bleedgreen99 - Raiders to make (BG99)/miss(Lucy) the 8. Avatar from last round of regular season 2015 until GF 2016.
Signature Bet - Raider85 - Raiders to get(Lucy)/miss(R85) the wooden spoon. Signature for entire offseason.
Bottle of something to the value of $70 - Matthew Borewood to not see (Lucy)/to see (Piggles) a first grade game in 2015 for the Warriors.
The Name Change Bet - Regarding the three bets above;
I win all three I keep my name.
I win one I become "the Punish"
I lose all I become "Chicken Little"

I totally agree with you, but jeez he's a good player. Wonder if the stats could be looked at so that the metres gained are discounted for fullbacks or wingers who just return the ball up to the defence. If they make ground after beating the first defender, OK, count those metres.Luffty wrote:Stats do lie sometimes.
I suppose a prop that brings the ball back off the try line after a kick off is also making about 15-20 metres before he hits the line - so maybe their metres should be discounted as well. I'm only suggesting this because certain players can get big "metres gained" numbers while doing very little by way of damaging or incisive running.
