Junior representatives Round 7 wrap

Canberra Raiders Co-Coach Adam Kyle is thrilled with the mature attitude of his talented young side after their forced their way into the top eight following a terrific 30 -12 victory over the Balmain Tigers. The side knew that a win from this encounter would force them into the top eight and they started the game accordingly. “We knew before this game that a win would push us back into the eight,” said Kyle. “We started really strongly forcing an error from Balmain and scored in the opening minutes. We continued to trade sets with them but were a bit more dominant around the middle and went onto win the game as a result.”

Canberra 30 (Nikola Cotric, Kalani Going, Trent Kelly, Jesse Martin, Jake Notaras, Tre Williams tries; Tre Williams 2, Nikola Cotric goals) def. Balmain 12 (Montasir Sheriff, Marvin Slavin, T.j Uele tries)

Junior Reps Round 8 Preview: Raiders v Sea Eagles

The Raiders are sitting in eighth position in Harold Matthews and with just two games remaining in the regular season and a win this round against the Manly Sea Eagles is of paramount importance to their semi-final aspirations. “We are running on a high at the moment,” said Raiders Co-Coach Adam Kyle. “We have a great feeling in the squad at the moment and it’s been like this for a while now. It’s a credit to the boys that they turn up week after week ready to learn. We are so happy that it has resulted in us also winning.” And in SG Ball, with four teams locked on eight competition points, the seventh place Raiders team knows the remaining two games of the year are crucial if they are to graduate to the semi-finals.

Junior representatives Round 8 wrap: Canberra Raiders v Sea Eagles

With just one week to go until the semi-finals, the Canberra Raiders have retained their position in 8th place in Harold Matthews after a brilliant 28-8 win over the Manly Sea Eagles.

“We had a very tough first half where we went set for set with Manly and it was a real grind,” said Raiders Co-Coach Adam Kyle.

“We just lacked composure at times with the ball in the first half and were actually down 8-6 at halftime. I’m proud that we hung in there though and the second half was a really dominant effort from the boys, which was a great turnaround from the 1st half. We started to complete some sets and play with a bit more shape. To win the second half 22-0 was very impressive.”

Harold Matthews

Half time: Manly Sea Eagles 8 lead Canberra Raiders 6
Full time: Canberra Raiders 28 defeated Manly Sea Eagles 8
Current ladder position: 8th

SG Ball

Half time: Canberra Raiders 22 lead Manly Sea Eagles 0
Full time: Canberra Raiders 38 defeated Manly Sea Eagles 4
Current ladder position: 5th on points differential

Canberra are now sitting in 9th after my team the Centurions beat the previously undefeated Parramatta earlier tonight 26 - 16.

With one round to play a win for the Central Coast will secure a finals berth, Canberra must win and hope for a Central Coast loss ( or a very heavy loss ).

Canberra Raiders junior reps with tough assignments against the Panthers

Image

The Raiders Harold Matthews side has their destiny in their own hands when they take on the Penrith Panthers on Saturday afternoon after a mid-week upset win by the Central Coast Centurions over the Parramatta Eels has resulted in Canberra slipping out of the top eight to 9th place on the ladder. Canberra needs to win convincingly against the Panthers and pray that the Central Coast loses to the St George Dragons to qualify for the top eight. “Regardless of if we had already qualified or not, we want to finish the year off strongly,” said co coach Adam Kyle. “We knew a few weeks back that we would need to win majority of our games to make the semi-finals and the boys have responded in kind. Central Coast’s win has dropped us out of the eight but we knew all along we would have to win this weekend to make the semi-finals anyway. We want to finish the season off on a positive note and the boys are focused on the job at hand.”
