The rumour mill

Post by LimeGreenVictor »

Hey, Peeps

This is the rumour mill for the NRL, if you have a rumour, scoop or confirmed signing for the season 2008/09 feel free to post it here.

Links don't have to acompany rumours as such but do so with confirmed signings and resignings, but with rumours you don't have to have sources, but don't go making up rumours... Thanks

Rumours:

Luke Lewis  Souths Sydney
You all know the Toddy Carney link to five other clubs
Mark McLinden looking to comeback to Australia either with Penrith, Canberra or Manly
and lastly Stuart Fielden linked with a move to the Dragons in 2009.

Well I'm off. LGV :)

I spoke to McLinden a couple of months back, I doubt he will be wearing green when he returns to Oz.

Most of the rumours you already know...

Matt Henjak to NRL
Jarrod Summat to the Warriors, but I feel the Panthers may want someone in return...

THanks bro :)

Anthony Tupou rumoured to Manly if Menzies leaves. It would have to be a HUGE contract though.

Kurt Gidley staying with the Knights. Apparently the size of this contract could mean the end of Buderus' time in Newcastle as he has been offered a contract from an unknown ESL club for the 2010 season. But also even Union is after him not just Australia but as so Brit and French teams to, he might just be the next million dollar sports man like Symonds...

Nathan Merritt and Issac Luke sticking with the Rabbits

P.S. Why are people so shocked at seeing Symonds get auctioned for over 1 million dollars. Recently NFL safety Bob Sanders was given, not contract, 20 million dollars up front. If we think 1 million is enough we are dreaming...

Sorry just speaking my mind  :)

Fair call on the 1mil price tag on Roy, its not that much in the grand scheme of things but considering he ranked 2nd behind Donhi, or what ever his name is, its a fair accolade to have, especially in a comp where indians are the most prized possession

I was told last year that Luke Lewis could end up with the Titans when his contract runs out.

Interesting to see if it happens.

Why does Manly need Carney, with Orford and Lyon in their squad?

You just answered your own question. A better one would be how can they afford him with those two, and several other origin reps (stewart, watmough, kite, bell etc)

FYI Latest rumour is that a wealthy Canberra supporter has offered to assist in the Carney negotiations, by funding a full time driver / personal assistant for Todd. Well in Steven  .

im fairly certain GE wouldnt be the man behind the gesture (though i wouldnt rule him out!)
but im talking about the offer of a wealthy fan supporting the cost of a fulltime driver/PA...

Prop Herman Retzlaff has been signed by the New Zealand Warriors after being on trial during the National Rugby League club's off-season and pre-season training programme.

Todd Carney offered a bigger contract from the Bulldogs.

Trent Barrett asked if he wanted to play for the Raiders if Carney leaves, he rejected.

Asked by who????? Hopefully not the Raiders club itself! Barrett: most over rated player of the past decade.

Well now it looks like they want to bring him here, even if we still resign Todd Carney?

It's very odd.

And where exactly is that money coming from?
