Raiders have a bit to blame as well when they shafted his brother the previous year .... that was always going to come back and bite them in the proverbial.

True, but Mick was still putting in after he signed with Manly. Benmeyer is right, it went from 12 tries in 14 games to 0 in 10.
Add to the fact he looked disinterested for a lot of that, and i think that is where a lot of the anti-Joel sentiment comes from.

Nice guy though.
I agree his is a nice guy he seemed to be a decent bloke when I saw him in public after he signed for the roosters.
But the fact is he almost didn't want to be here after he signed for them.
Look at Michael Monaghan, he was shown the door by the club but gave his 100% until the last seconds.
Anybody remember the decoy slip againts the Warriors
i don't think Joel "not trying" was the reason for him not scoring a try in 10 games. he had a knee injury, which didn't help, but what i think is more relevant is the pressure he felt after signing with the Roosters - he was probably too conscious of his own game, instead of playing naturally, which is what can happen under pressure. he didn't look uninterested at all to me.
