Queensland supporters took the expression "the home of rugby league" literally and haven't turned up. I'd really like a Magic round in Sydney and I'd go to every game.

That's a ridiculous penalty and "on report".

You'd find it is the same in Sydney. Probably worse, because Sydney is already oversupplied with games. The concept is the problem.

Maybe it needs a new location every year so fans don't take it for granted?

The supporters are very tribal. Quite a few fans in Sydney won't even leave their own suburb. Granted, it is almost impossible to get off the peninsula.

I have to say, when I went to Magic Round, I was less interested in the other games than a Raiders game of NSW Cup. I watch games every week on TV, but I would never actively choose to go to a game that doesn't involve the Raiders.

I think this would work, but would be better if league was more national. Realistically you can only have it in a major city (or city with a 40,000 minimum seater stadium), so the NRL would just be rotating between Sydney and Brisbane every year. If you were taking it to Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide as well you'd have a full stadium the whole time with a once in 5 year novelty aspect. But given those other cities don't have the NRL support it wouldn't go.

Crowd filled up pretty well by half time. Not exactly showcase games. All 4 teams outside the 8.

But one of them is Brisbane... and they often have a 40,000 crowd for a regular home game.

Yep.

I can’t remember the last time we had an out an out speedster in our team...was it Phil Graham?

There is nothing quite like the excitement of seeing them in space and knowing that no one or very few players can catch them.

We need that ASAP.

Shut up Parker. Players need to adjust to the rules. Don’t hit people in the head or with your head. It’s like the penalty crackdown all over again.

But when the contact is minimal... the policy needs some, let’s say, fine tuning.

I’ve never seen the game shoot from hip so often as in 2020-21, with no proper thought given to the consequences or ramifications, and with so little consultation.
