I thought Toby Rudolph was going to the Warriors?

Their side looked old last season and no different next year.

Cronulla Sharks sign St George Illawarra skipper Cameron McInnes on four-year deal

Cronulla have signed Dragons captain Cameron McInnes on a four-year deal from 2022 after St George Illawarra failed to table a formal extension offer. The Sharks snuck under their traditional rivals' nose with a lengthy deal worth around $500,000 a season for the Red V skipper. He is expected to play lock at the Sharks.

I guess that's what happens when you sign a coach that your captain can't stand.

Missing out on hooker must have been less of an issue than coming 9th.
Still the sharks short term is looking pretty wobbly. Lots of balls in the air as far as what their roster will be like in 2 years.

I love McInnes' competitive nature. Gets the most out of his ability and always gives his all. Sorry to see him play with those douchebags in a Sharks jersey.

Not questioning his competitive nature. Saints looked 10 x better last year as soon as Hunt took over at dummy half and he doesn't offer much as a lock, aside from tackling his heart out.

Ouch!

McInnes isn't a great dummy half, but it's pretty harsh to suggest the Dragons were 10x better with Hunt there! Hunt is more skillful but he's a pea heart and they often looked a bit lost when he held the reigns.

The majority of Drags fans prefer McInnes, but neither are a great option.

Brailey will still be the sharks hooker. As for us I hope long term we're taking a good look at Adrian Trevilyan.

Well maybe not quite 10 x. McInnes can't pass well off the ground and he rarely engaged the markers. I completely understand why fans loved him. For the past year he looked like he was the only player who gave a **** on a week to week basis. Reminds me of Fensom.

same but it's a numbers game and we've been cooked too long waiting on 9's to develop.

$525k is a lot for a bench utility

I don't think you're alone in that assessment. I can see why they did the lock switch at the dragons but you would have thought McInnes would be signing to play his preferred position. Maybe that preference changed or he just has different priorities now. The articles have mentioned his desire for finals footy but going to a sharks team that scraped in on a golden hand shake last year and doesn't have a stable roster moving forward is an odd way to hunt finals footy.

Cronulla Sharks approach Craig Bellamy to take up coaching director role

Cronulla are looking to bring Storm premiership-winning mentor Craig Bellamy to the club next year as a coaching director. Sharks chief executive Dino Mezzatesta issued a statement on Saturday night.

"We can confirm meetings have been ongoing between the Sharks, Craig Bellamy and his advisors, in relation to a potential coaching director role at our club from 2022 onwards.

Cronulla Sharks back Bronson Xerri receives four year doping ban

The National Rugby League (NRL) Anti-Doping Tribunal has suspended Cronulla Sharks player Bronson Xerri for 4 years.

The Anti-Doping Tribunal, chaired by the Honourable Ian Callinan AC QC with panellists Dr Sharron Flahive and Mr Sean Garlick, found that Mr Xerri breached the NRL’s Anti-Doping Policy in November 2019 when he tested positive to the presence of exogenous Testosterone, and its metabolites Androsterone, Etiocholanolone and 5b-androstane-3a, 17b-diol.

The Tribunal found that Mr Xerri intentionally took testosterone in late 2019 knowing that the substance was either banned or that there was a serious risk that it was banned. The Tribunal also found that Mr Xerri’s actions were, on his own evidence, at best grossly negligent. The sanction imposed is the presumptive 4-year ban for the use of serious performance enhancing substances.

Mr Xerri’s suspension is taken to have commenced on the date of his test on 25 November 2019 and will expire on 25 November 2023.

The NRL will continue to offer Mr Xerri wellbeing support.

Xerri is unfortunately brought down by being surrounded by a family and club lacking in self honesty and Strong leadership.

It’s all on him, but I do think he would have had a better chance with a better family and a better club.

Blokes like Sia, Croker, Lui and more recently Papa set a clear level of leadership and professionalism on and off the field.

They gave Matt Lodge a massive cuddle.

BX hasn’t hurt anyone, he’ll be given an opportunity.

And he’ll be only 23 when his doping ban is up.

he's a kid who's made a huge mistake but only hurt himself. The NRL have made the statement they'll continue supporting his well-being but they haven't in the last year or so.
To his credit Xerri has owned it and I think that should mean something

Cronulla Sharks lock in Craig Fitzgibbon as head coach on three year deal

Craig Fitzgibbon has inked a three-year deal to take charge of Cronulla next season. The Roosters assistant is understood to have put pen to paper on Tuesday, with an assurance provided to the Tricolours that there is no chance Fitzgibbon will be pitched into the role any earlier than the start of 2022 pre-season work. Should current coach John Morris consider his position untenable, Cronulla will look to caretaker options.
