53rd min TRY BLUES to Daniel Tupou off the scrum play, again, four on three. That's two tries off the same play. That's certainly the game now and it could get a whole lot worse at this rate. The Queensland forwards have been dominated since the 20 minute mark... of course, no possession does that. No conversion from the sideline.

They’ve barely even challenged Sami, as well, all their attention has been on Coates.Northern Raider wrote: ↑November 11, 2020, 8:32 pm Edrick can start preparing for his debut next week. Sami getting exposed severely.

I only got the Foxsports broadcasts in the UK. Is Andrew Johns normally this annoying as a commentator?

Poor old Papa and Lui expected to come back and save some face. Terrible performance.

57th min Three dust ups in a row. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Payne Haas going to the bin. Haas the instigator. Stupid from the Maroons to respond, they already had the penalty.

Munster off early. Hunt comes on and turns QLD into the Dragons.

60th min Disastrous set from the Maroons in the red zone. The missing Munster has clearly been a huge problem for Queensland.

63rd min Papalii is back for the Maroons. Great run Capewell and six again puts the Maroons into the red zone!
TRY MAROONS to Josh Papalii, off a Cherry Evans pass. Valentine Holmes converts.
Blues 28-10
Three converted tries the difference, with less than 20 minutes remaining.

65th min TRY BLUES to Josh Addo-Carr, following the kick to the corner. It follows a poor pass from Capewell and Sami's error. More stupid play to push the pass at the Maroons' own end. No conversion.

67th min Papalii regathers the short kick off. And Queensland promptly knock on in the ruck. Goodness knows why Bennett didn't bring Papalii back earlier... or Lui.

MATCH REPORT: Cleary shines in win over Maroons to force decider
Blues halfback Nathan Cleary bounced back to top form to force a State of Origin series decider, steering NSW to an emphatic 34-10 win over Queensland at Stadium Australia on Wednesday.

Best possible result. NSW win to keep the series alive but Papa and Lui both good (despite limited minutes).

Re: 2020 State of Origin II - Teams and Game Day
It was the very compressed defensive line. NSW changed up their defence from Game 1, and Qld's go forward was completely stunted. Whether it was a lack of leadership on the field, an unwillingness to change the game plan or something else, Qld stubbornly persisted in trying to go through the middle.

Have to be honest. The 1st half of game one was the only real competive half this series.

Re: 2020 State of Origin II - Teams and Game Day
I thought QLD started well and they were working the edges well but NSW had all the ball and field position. Cleary played well but only because the NSW pack got on top. I expect game 3 will be a much tighter contest.Greedysmurf wrote:It was the very compressed defensive line. NSW changed up their defence from Game 1, and Qld's go forward was completely stunted. Re: 2020 State of Origin II - Teams and Game Day
Qld knocked the complacency out of NSW in Adelaide. Now we see a more determined side with the forwards aggressive running providing opportunity for the kicking game of the halves. Tedesco a constant threat up the middle as was Cook. Early kicking brought JACs pace into play often as well.
Dunamis played well on limited minutes. Papa scored a Papa-like try going through Cook like a freight train for his TRY. Jack also scored, this time with a little right foot step to wrong foot and get past Gagai before powering his way to the line.
The loss of Munster early ruined the Qld structure and left DCE to do the bulk of the kicking. I thought it was more difficult for him as the NSW forwards gained advantage when in possession which the Qld pack did not match on the night. I don't think Qld can pick and stick with this side. They need to look at their left side in particular.
Decider in Qld next Wednesday. If the Blues come out with the same intensity I think they will win.

Re: 2020 State of Origin II - Teams and Game Day
Much better games for the Raiders boys this week. Tries to Papalii and Wighton, dunamis keeps his spot.
Blues show a lot of spirit to be down by 1 game and 1 try after 95 minutes in the series to go on and win game 2 by 24.
Decider in Scumcorp for game 3 so blues will be going in with their backs against the wall!!

Re: 2020 State of Origin II - Teams and Game Day
Poor game from Queensland tonight, Bennett’s decisions not beyond criticism either. Losing Munster in opening minutes was a huge blow though. Hunt improved the team when he was injected last week, but created a liability this week. And then Maroons errors at their own end... and lack of oomph off the bench in the forwards for Queensland costly. Top forwards brought back too late.
Interesting to see a very relaxed post game Bennett in the sheds. NSW will be expected to travel on the day next week, rather than Queensland. Series not decided. Decider in Brisbane next week. We shall see a different Maroons next week. Some attitude adjustment needed, but it’s certainly in grasp.

Blues showed far more fitness this game. A much better atmosphere when blues don’t have a **** jersey and the game isn’t played in Adelaide

Re: 2020 State of Origin II - Teams and Game Day
Much better from the Blues and Cleary stood up this week after the stick he copped from the first game. Still not convinced that Wighton and Gutho are going to be better than 'proper' centres, though. QLD leaving themselves repeatedly 3 on 4 was odd; that last try from Tupou, he went over without a hand being laid on him, as I recall. That does not sound like Origin-level defence.
