I honestly think the QLD forward pack stacks up well against NSW. Hess isn't SoO starting second row calibre and Lui was probably unlucky to miss out for Collins (although neither are really SoO calibre). But then on this side you've got guys like Cordner and Frizell on the decline, Paulo who has always had suss defence and Crichton who I've always thought was overrated.

The backlines however are two different classes. But that may not matter if the QLD forwards outmuscle the New South Welshmen.

Qlders I’ve a passion for taking players from nsw and other parts of the world and calling them qlders such is their rl inferiority complex.

That’s about the only passion they have not held by nsw.

It can be pretty brutal in Canberra too early in the season, and certainly could be in February. And the NRL seems to love sending us to a "local derby" on the Gold Coast or in Townsville in Round 1.
It’s really not a comparison between Queensland and Canberra when it comes to hot though.

I was in Canberra for that “hot” Round 1 game against Penrith a few years ago and was also on the Gold Coast for the genuinely brutal game Zaius is referencing, the difference was stark

Only one of them I’d call brutal, the other I’d call... cute

I think they would be better off starting the season earlier and having a month off for origin, or letting it run to the end of October like this year.

Having it post season ruins the product, and having it mid season around the NRL ruins the comp

And just on this, I have no issue with Origin being post-season and I might actually get around it, except... why the **** are the games still on Wednesday nights?

They’ve dropped a massive ball here, imagine if they were three Saturdays in a row??

The Blues have cut Cameron McInnes and Regan Campbell-Gillard from their squad of 21, while the Maroons have omitted Moeaki Fotuaika and Dunamis Lui.

Agreed. Picking Collins ahead of him is really taking the piss.

Is Edrick Lee injured? I know he’s unpopular on here because of the way he finished with us, but right now he’s a much better and safer option than Sami or Coates.

Brenko Lee failed a fitness test on the ground at Adelaide Oval... but Kurt Capewell was handed his debut jersey by Mal Meninga well before the game this afternoon.

The Adelaide Oval is quite full, it is sold out, given the COVID restrictions, and the crowd is 26,000. The teams are getting ready to leave the sheds. Queensland getting ready to head out! Wayne Bennett and Neil Henry head to the sidelines... Now here come the Maroons! Now the Blues!

Some very dark "sky blue" jerseys for the Blues. Now the national anthem. The Maroons go into a huddle now... the Maroons will kick off... we are underway!

3rd min Going to video for a "no try" for Josh Addo-Carr. It was obviously no try. Not even close. But the Blues did have a big overlap, early.

14th min Blues hold on... but now there's another change over in the 10m zone! Should have been at least one set restart for Queensland in the second set in the red zone.
