16th min TRY BLUES to Damien Cook. He kicks and rebounds and gathers his own kick... and scores. It is off the back of a forward pass from the Blues in the lead up. It is completely against the run of play. Cherry Evans couldn't make the tackle. Cleary converts. Unfortunate for Queensland, as they've been by far the better team in the opening stages.

Blues 6-0

QLD have had about 5 attacking sets and just run sideways for 5 tackles

18th min Addo-Carr takes an easy intercept, DCE pass, to snuff out a Maroons' attacking set. Boyd Cordner off with a head knock.

21st min TRY BLUES to Josh Addo-Carr in the corner. Defensive error inside from the Maroons gives an overlap. Awful defensive error from Queensland. No conversion Cleary from the sideline. The Blues tries have been against the run of play, but once they have their opportunity, they take it.

Blues 10-0

Queensland have had 60 per cent of possession and 68 per cent of the territory, 25 minutes in, but they trail 10-0. They really have failed to take advantage of a glut of possession and territory.

HALF TIME

New South Wales Blues 10
Queensland Maroons 0

The Maroons have had 53 per cent possession and 55 per cent of the territory. But the Blues have made more runs and more metres, and taken their opportunities when they came in the Maroons red zone. The Blues have 10 more tackle breaks, 120 more post contact metres, and 100 more metres gained. Offloads are 9-6 in favour of the Blues.

The guy’s baseline is concussed... so it’s business as usual at Cordner HQ.

Yes, very un-origin game. Players clearly not in the same headspace or fitness as usual. I don't recall one big hit. I think the pick was Frizell folding Hess but not a big hit by origin standards.

Majority of players looking quite fatigued throughout a lot of that half. 2nd half should open up more

Also agree it is a lower intensity and quality origin than usual. Post season and a sold out COVID Adelaide Oval does not help the atmosphere

50th min TRY MAROONS to AJ Brimson. Great break Capewell and a kick and Brimson follows! That is a bit lucky, but it matches the luck of the first Blues' try for Cook. Queensland has opened well in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Cherry Evans converts.

Blues 10
Maroons 6
