Keep telling yourself that, Timmy... this series is going to be excellent.

Wighton and JAC were on the left last year but looks like they've moved them for Tupou and Gutho who are also left siders.
Wighton was on the right for Australia IIRC.
Unless these jersey numbers mean nothing.
If they do have Wighton on the right I think they've missed a trick. Keary between Cordner and Wighton is a much safer bet.

Is that the QLD origin team or QLD residents?
**** dog average side, isn't it? I mean you've got Brenko **** Lee getting a run in the centres - now THAT'S bad.
Seems like only yesterday that they were choc full of stars across the park.
You mean Premiership winning centre Brenko Lee, right?
What I wouldn't give for a player of that caliber in the Raiders' backline.

I thought Teddy was limping and not guaranteed to start? If he doesn't come up it would not surprise me to see Gutherson to FB and Lomax in at right center. At least those two would be playing in their usual Club positions. If I was going to move one of the left wingers it would not be JAC. He had the position in the 2019 Origin series and was very good on the left for Melbourne. I know Tupou plays on the left for the Chooks and this would link him with Keary and Cordner on that side but I like the combination JAC and JACK had going last year on the left.
History has shown Qld should never be written off before the series even starts. It is a two horse race and no side has proved dominant yet.

Watch Brenko's asking price skyrocket. He must be grinning from ear to ear right now, genuine case of right place right time. Good on him.
Brenko and Sami have been battling to hold their 1st grade spot this year. Coates would be too at any other team. Easily worst backline ever to play Origin. QLD 13+

You just know that Gagai will miraculously convert from an absolute spud into the best centre in the universe.

That's one of the bankable commodities in Origin.

Queenslanders have passion for State of Origin that people in New South Wales can never understand. Never. They’re jealous of it. Awfully jealous. And they don’t understand the Queensland spirit. They’ll never understand it.

Apart from if you'd had a stroke, and were plastered on Cape Byron's finest hand sanitiser. Then you might reach that level of dribbling.
My support for the Blues is largely due to them being the underdogs at the time I first started watching SoO, they were getting regularly hammered by QLD. Well, that, and the obvious dislike of Smith and Slater, of course. It's is considerably reinforced by the arrival of Bennett. And yeah, the QLD backline does look poor. I always thought of Brenko Lee as 'barely NRL class'.

Correct.
QLD “spirit” is their way of describing overwhelming arrogance ... epitomised by the Brisbane Broncos club.
Remember when NSW won 3 series on the trot in the early 2000s, QLD declared Origin “dead”. Typical cowards.

Nah I think Queensland win 5 - 0 in a three game series because of the pashun and spirit (spirit being based on the Sharks supporters 'spirit fingers' during goal kicks). They also have the advantage of playing three home games this series.
This series will decide if origin is played post season in the future
I think they would be better off starting the season earlier and having a month off for origin, or letting it run to the end of October like this year.
Having it post season ruins the product, and having it mid season around the NRL ruins the comp
Argh. I went to a Titans v Raiders game in Round 1 a few years back and it was brutal just being a spectator. Admittedly it was daytime, but it's still pretty warm and humid at night. Not sure that I'd be keen on the season starting any sooner.

It can be pretty brutal in Canberra too early in the season, and certainly could be in February. And the NRL seems to love sending us to a "local derby" on the Gold Coast or in Townsville in Round 1.
